What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I don't know that the rear wind deflector would cut down on noise, but it does keep a LARGE amount of the exhaust fumes from coming in the rear windows when you're driving with that window down.

The rack is pretty awesome and I am so stoked to start using it this spring/summer. I posted the dimensions and stuff in my build
thread if you're interested- take a lot of the guess
work out.

From what I remember from the manual I think, the wind deflector also keeps the back window clean by not letting dirt accumulate on the glass.

Over the weekend... blasted my corroded wheels and had them powdercoated by a friend.

New tires on tonight! Oh and did a fuel filter change.

Finally finished cutting my receiver off today. Started scraping some scale off the frame in the rear to prep for coating.

Also finished the driver side rocker panel and coated in bed liner. Just need to finish the passenger rocker and to do around the wheel wells.

Are those lower ball joints? Keep a very close eye on non-OEM LBJ's. It seems alot of them fail prematurely... I would inspect them every 10k-20k just to be safe.

Yea they are, this isnt a daily driver rig tho. I will be checking them regularly and will change them at the first sign of play. I might even just change them every 10-20k kms.

Went to discount to swap my 265/75/16 tires purchased in December for some 285s I got on a parts truck. Instead of paying $120 for swapping I paid $90 and exchanged the tires for more brand new bfg ko2's.

Sold my donor tires for $450 to a friend. Awesome customer service and truck looks balanced now. I'll throw a pic up later.

Nice job on the deal I love my scangauge but there is no way I could butcher my plastics to mount it like that. To each is to own I guess

Haha "butcher" not the adjective I would have used... Thought I did a decent job. But I had a second, in case I ya know... Butchered it.

33s. Her neighbor has an 01 limited, he wasn't home or it would have been in the background.

AOR rear bumper goes on tomorrow after paint. Winch will go back in once we swap longblock and it's able to stay setup in there.

Does anyone have TRD headers on a late model 3rd gen up here? I see that there were numerous part numbers from what i can tell and didnt know if anyone had any info on the TRD part number for a 01-02. I can order T100-Tacoma headers but dont want to have fitment issues. I need to find a set if possible in the next few days so I can finish my engine assembly

Carried on amassing parts for my rear axle build and re-gear...

Landcruiser Prado rear axle for a factory disk brake upgrade, with 4.88s and Trutracs (Don't hate for non Lockers) along with adjustable rear arms...

It'll all be written up when I start my build thread! (Along with a load of retrospective stuff I've already done)

Can't wait!

Had a set of 33" BFG KO2's installed. There's was a great deal from Discount Tire Direct going on eBay. $100 off any purchase of $400 or more, and they had pairs of 33" KO2's for $452 shipped. So taking off the $100 made it $352. I got 5 for my truck and one more to replace the old 33" Mich AT2 spare my wife had on the back of hers (she got 33" KO2's last year). I'll just be doing a 5 tire rotation to keep all 5 worn evenly.

Now I'm waiting for my new control arm to show up. I've needed to get it aligned since I put the Sonoran Steel lift on a few weeks ago. The driver's side LCA adjusters are both moving and adjustable, probably because some stuff was replaced on that corner previously in the trucks life (probably a small fender bender).

But the passenger side adjusters? Stuck incredibly tight. The bolts loosen easily enough, but that cam is not moving. So far I've tried PBLaster, heat, hammering, prying, more hammering (both on the big offset disc on one side and the stub end of the cam on the other - with a bolt stuck in it to prevent mushrooming). Tried some heat. finally, I've just been driving it around for a few days with the bolts slightly loose, hoping something will break loose. At this point, i[m pretty sure they're jsut plain stuck, so the plan is to carefully sawzall both adjuster cams out by cutting between the arm and frame (on both sides). Then replace the LCA with a new arm using new adjusters. With plenty of anti-seize in the bushing to help stop the new adjuster cams from seizing again.

Ordered a new LCA from Toyota, my wife had a bad experience with aftermarket LCA bushings when her originals wore out. The OEM's lasted 15 - 16 years, 220K miles, the replacements lasted something like 15K miles, 1 year before they were shredded and floppy, she had to replace them with OEM. I figure the replacement control arms on RockAuto for $69 probably have similar cheap crappy bushings as well. Well worth the extra money from Toyota to get one that will last a long time.

I'd just cut the arm off and replace the bushings, but I can't have the car down for that long. Both of my fair weather 'fun' cars are down right now as well, waiting on unexpectedly hard to find parts. The plates are expired on my turbo hot rod Volvo wagon, and last year the windshield cracked and it won't pass a safety inspection with that. And who knew that Volvo 240 windshields would be so hard to find? And the the header cracked on my snorty old 63 rat rod Volvo and it's proving hard to find a quality replacement.
