Had a set of 33" BFG KO2's installed. There's was a great deal from Discount Tire Direct going on eBay. $100 off any purchase of $400 or more, and they had pairs of 33" KO2's for $452 shipped. So taking off the $100 made it $352. I got 5 for my truck and one more to replace the old 33" Mich AT2 spare my wife had on the back of hers (she got 33" KO2's last year). I'll just be doing a 5 tire rotation to keep all 5 worn evenly.
Now I'm waiting for my new control arm to show up. I've needed to get it aligned since I put the Sonoran Steel lift on a few weeks ago. The driver's side LCA adjusters are both moving and adjustable, probably because some stuff was replaced on that corner previously in the trucks life (probably a small fender bender).
But the passenger side adjusters? Stuck incredibly tight. The bolts loosen easily enough, but that cam is not moving. So far I've tried PBLaster, heat, hammering, prying, more hammering (both on the big offset disc on one side and the stub end of the cam on the other - with a bolt stuck in it to prevent mushrooming). Tried some heat. finally, I've just been driving it around for a few days with the bolts slightly loose, hoping something will break loose. At this point, i[m pretty sure they're jsut plain stuck, so the plan is to carefully sawzall both adjuster cams out by cutting between the arm and frame (on both sides). Then replace the LCA with a new arm using new adjusters. With plenty of anti-seize in the bushing to help stop the new adjuster cams from seizing again.
Ordered a new LCA from Toyota, my wife had a bad experience with aftermarket LCA bushings when her originals wore out. The OEM's lasted 15 - 16 years, 220K miles, the replacements lasted something like 15K miles, 1 year before they were shredded and floppy, she had to replace them with OEM. I figure the replacement control arms on RockAuto for $69 probably have similar cheap crappy bushings as well. Well worth the extra money from Toyota to get one that will last a long time.
I'd just cut the arm off and replace the bushings, but I can't have the car down for that long. Both of my fair weather 'fun' cars are down right now as well, waiting on unexpectedly hard to find parts. The plates are expired on my turbo hot rod Volvo wagon, and last year the windshield cracked and it won't pass a safety inspection with that. And who knew that Volvo 240 windshields would be so hard to find? And the the header cracked on my snorty old 63 rat rod Volvo and it's proving hard to find a quality replacement.
