What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

My local automotive paint supplier can mix up a can of custom matched spray paint. They use a scanning machine thing that scans your paint and tells them what to mix up to match it perfectly.
I think any automotive paint supplier can do this, not just the one I go to.
For anyone reading this in the Bay Area, San Leandro Color is the place to go.

The scan tool is so awesome I use it at work all the time with customers although sometimes it comes up with some weird info. Case in point I had this guy come in with an 07 tundra in tan(not sure on the actual name right now) the scan tool's best match came up with an 06 Mazda tan color. Told the customer and he said weird but that he'd go with it since it was just a 2 oz touch up bottle. We went out and touched up some chips in his bumper and it was a pretty damn good match. The tool is really helpful for custom colors too cuz it tells you the formula for it when you plug it into the computer.

She is all green and shiny! I got a little more orange peel than normal, but pretty happy with the conditions i had to paint it in. Too tall to get in the garage, and raining off and on so i had to paint her in the car port under just two shop lights. It's right at 55 degress now and lower air pressure because of running 100 foot of air hose so i really had to pay attention to what i was doing and wait for the paint to flow/level out and take twice as long between coats so i didn't get any runs.

2 coats of clear on the body and 3 on the hood.

Sleeping/Storage Platform

I finally got around to building my sleeping platform. I took a different approach than most that I've seen here. I removed the seats and built a 50/50 folding platform at the same level the folded down seat backs were, using the existing seat hinges. By building the platform this low, we are able to sit up all the way in the back, won't hit our shoulder on the ceiling when we turn in our sleep, etc. The passenger side leaves room for a cooler (maybe a small Dometic fridge in the future), so there is about 6'3" of sleeping space on the driver side and 5'3" of sleeping space on the passenger side - extra room for both me and my wife. I built the platform out of 3/4" plywood, some 2x4s, and covered it in indoor/outdoor carpet.

Under the driver side platform I can fit two sleeping bags, two thermarest pads, our tent, plus more. The space under the passenger side is mainly for tools, but there is a lot of room left over. We are going to put a 4-5" foam mattress down in the back, and will be building additional elevated storage at the rear to hold two or three cargo boxes that our feet can fit under while we sleep.

I was able to put some new Tundra rotors on from Toyota as well as new calipers and pads! I also installed the Toytec braided lines in the front and rear after having them for over a year just sitting around... I had a little snag up where I stripped one of the flare nuts connecting to the top of the stock rubber lines, but eventually got it off. After numerous times bleeding, I am very impressed! Hopefully these ones will not rust as bad as before!

I also finished up my bumper prototype and will hopefully be fitting it on the car today. All of the cardboard was CNC cut at my school on one of the cardboard cutters. The material is a little undersized in thickness, but it will give me a good idea of what to expect when I get the actual metal! :banana:

Had my idle control valve replaced.....symptoms....intermittent stalls after cold starts and i just cleaned the damn thing last month while replacing my valve cover gaskets.

I think you would find a close match if you used Duplicolor white primer then 2 light coats of Duplicolor Graphite Wheel Paint, followed by Duplicolor clear wheel paint.

My wheels are Duplicolor graphite and while mine (2nd pic) are a bit darker, you could correct that with a white primer and two thin coats instead of two thick coats like I did.
