What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

a co-worker helped me do my valve cover gaskets today. torqued to spec. when i got home, notice oil leaking, opened the hood and found a crack in the valve cover. lucky it's not my daily driver.

Cracked mine in the exact same place after I replaced my gaskets. Gotta be super careful when tightening the bolts on the valve cover.

How should you be more careful other than torquing to what the FSM states?
Seems like an outcome like that would really frustrate me

Just have to tighten them in very small increments. I know, I thought the same thing when I cracked mine.

I'm sure the torque spec is in inch-pounds. How many steps did you go in?

Met up with a buddy for a run at the Rose Bowl. He just picked up a 5th gen SR5. Not 4x4 though smh.

Also, not 4runner related but little bro won this in a auction on eBay. I'm a little jealous

Started pulling the old front brakes off of the 4Runner so I can upgrade to the 13wl caliper stoptech slotted rotors and ebc yellowstuff pads.

The yards closest to me rarely ever have decent trucks, I'm sure the workers there cherry pick and sell them off to their buddies that run specialty wrecking businesses. The only time I've ever seen 4runners on the local yards (Sunland) is when they have already been stripped and are basically crap - or have been crapped in by someone.

Well, this is just another reason I need to move out of CA - wait, shared custody. Nope, I'm stuck.

I drove by some big junkyards in Mexico, there was a huge on in Mexicali by the highway I would have liked to stop in. Good excuse to go to Mexico.
