Zerex Asian formula is the next best thing to Toyota red, don't be afraid to use it. I used it on my last fluid change when I was replacing my OEM thermostat. Don't skimp on thermostat, sensors, and LBJ's -only OEM for those. Pretty much everything else has a quality aftermarket alternative.

Just called my local dealer, Toyota Red after discount is $30 a gal out the door.
Zerex Asian 50/50 is $16 plus tax
Seems a wash since I'd dilute the Red 50% with distilled water. Amirite?

You can get Zerex from Walmart for $12. Usually more convenient because you're already there for something else vs an extra trip to the dealer.

I researched this a few months ago and found that there is no (or very little) difference between 'Valvoline w/ Zerex' and 'Zerex by valvoline'.
Not sure the reason for the different containers, but it's all Zerex, and it's all made by Valvoline.
It's even 'Toyota Red/Pink'.

I got mine from O'Reillys on sale but I remember there was a significant price difference and it was a little more convenient for me. My local parts dept at Toyota Carlsbad has about the worst dealership parts prices I've run across and they won't price match Camelback Toyota. They'll only price match local dealerships (that are not much cheaper) so I try NOT to give them my business anyways. Sounds like a wash to me for you either way.

My local Carquest carries Toyota Red. That's where I get mine. Don't remember the cost, but it's not that expensive.

Rear body mounts
Thanks man! I did a 4 crawler 1/2" body lift but haven't done the rear mounts. No more pinch weld contact plus a little better clearance upfront

Checked rad before driving to lunch. Coolant level is about 1/8" above the fins, overflow is at the hot level, and there was this dried leak on the top tank.
Loose cap? Replace?

I've been told different things in regards to mixing and what not. I looked at our FSM and it suggests to not mix it on CO-23 (is the reference page). It costs me a little more but I did all as recommended. I don't recall what our in vehicle manual suggests, but I have followed my FSM on everything and haven't had a problem yet

Its the cap that came with my timing belt kit. Used to seal fine on my previous rad, it was on there for less than a year.
I'd have to lookup the mileage. I'm at 239,157 rn, so probably around 40K miles ago.

Dump the cheap aftermarket radiator cap and pick up an OEM Toyota cap.

Definitely go OES on the radiator cap, but be sure to check it every 6 months or so. I ordered the exact same Toyota cap from the Amazon link above and it failed within 2 years. The inside rusted out and it won't hold pressure. It looked fine from the outside.
