Did you write that review on amazon? [emoji4]I replaced my brake master cylinder. After bleeding (2 person method, in the order passenger rear, driver rear, passenger front, driver front), it's stopping better than it ever has in the 3+years I've owned it. I skipped paying for the Toyota box but stayed OEM with an Aisin BMT-035. This is the one I ordered:
https://www.amazon.com/Aisin-BMT-035-Brake-Master-Cylinder/dp/B006YCJ7A2
The listing glossed over that it's actually a reman from Advics. That is Aisin's reman line from what I've read so I wasn't too concerned. Bench bleeding was painless and install is super easy since it's right up top and accessible. Hopefully I'll be good to go for another 165k miles now.
Rebuilt my top end. R&R head gaskets, top end gasket set, and had both heads rebuilt. Two and a half days of work, plus a few days of machine work. Runs great now and no more P0300 and coolant loss!
Replaced the factory LBJ's, factory shocks and springs. Put in OEM LBJ's and 1999 tall springs, and KYB gas a just shocks. I did break the rear sway bar end links during removal, ordered a new set from Amazon, so I will be changing those later this week.
1999 SR5, 290k.
Congrats!

Right ons! Best part is knowing how much I saved on labor cost!
Found a new to me place of storage. These engineers thought of everything.

Lol, seeing this always shocks me. Whenever I roadtrip through the US, I constantly have to remind myself that most cars around me are probably "packing heat". Your gun culture blows my mind.
I'm almost 40 years old and have never even seen up close or held a firearm, and most of you 'muricans seem to have them in your glove compartments, nightstands, holsters between your legs. Wow..just wow. I can't even fathom it, lol.
Definitely not "most cars" and it is illegal to have a loaded gun in the car. Well, at least in California. (this is when the gun nuts start commenting about "commie-fornia" and all that)Lol, seeing this always shocks me. But guns are great fun in the right time and place. Mostly the desert, with things that go plink or boom when the get hit.

I'm curious if the shop CC'd the heads before and after, was your chamber volume affected? What gasket did you use? Did you reuse the head studs/bolts or use new? Will you retorque after X miles?
Some things are just easier on a SBC :whip2:
I’d have to check my paperwork from the machine shop, but they barely had to deck the heads as there was no warpage (didn’t overheat). It was more so just part of the rebuild, and confirmed that oem hg are fine with the minimal decking. Oem hg, aftermarket (Yotashop) upper end gasket kit, and new head bolts cuz TTY bolts. I don’t plan on retorqing the head bolts, unless I can find it in the FSM, tho never had to.
I have an expo trip coming up that will require me to use a hitch rack so I needed to come up with a solution for recovery without removing the hitch rack. So I step in with the bandsaw, grinder, and welder to make a solution.
Those look beefy af, good looking welds too :thumb:
