I replaced the automatic shifter bushings in my 97. I didn't know that it would make this much of a difference! I definitely suggest doing this fix for $5 and your time.

Received my Toytec/Eibach 112-620 coils today and put the box in the back of the 4runner

Finally got the official adoption papers for my baby, now it's officially part of the household!!! Only took 6 months, dozens of calls to dealer and DMV, and I-don't-want-to-know-what-else behind the scenes machinations to make it happen:

Thanks man, that means a lot! I'm super relieved, I hated doing all this work on the truck always looking over my shoulder and wondering if it's actually ever going to be mine. Now I can go wild right? Good thing I have that fake bulge hood in the garage already, that'll definitely improve my offroad capabilities
.But first thing's first, I need to get DMV to let me keep the old plates, which were original with the truck. The ones they are giving me are just a no-go, see if you can figure out why:crazy::

I put a switch on the door and then tapped into the power feed for the door system (Blue +/Wht-Blk -, there's a couple of blues so get the right one)

. Either with the "Y" being sounded out as an "i" or an "e", I don't like it. Although it's beginning to grow on me, it's got some chutzpah, so I won't lose sleep if I end up getting stuck with it. It's just a plate .

Whoa, I have been gone way too long. We moved from OR to MI in late January, both 4runners killed it averaging 90 mph through Montana. Kept up to date on car washes all winter and will do everything in my power to protect from rust.

I did the same yesterday on my 1996, cheap easy fix, no more side to side play in shifter.

So while the 5 speed is on the bench, getting full bearings in the rear end. At 300+k the wheel bearings and seals are still tight but the pinion bearing has quite a bit of slop, felt like a bad U-joint til I discovered otherwise.
My last 3rd gen the wheel bearings went at 300k. I do a ton of highway miles, usually around 1,000 per week. So that seems the high side of the end for a tear down bearing job.
