What Did You Do To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Earlier this week I had a new transmission installed at Fort Worth Toyota (great dealership to work with) and today I had new tires installed. The old trans was shot from the PO being an idiot trying to street race on mud tires. The tires had just had enough. Would have a pic of a shiny transmission but Texas is almost under water.

I went from 265/75/16 to 285/75/16 so not a big jump but just enough to take advantage of my 4.30 gears and supercharger.

Got my valve cover gaskets, plug caps, and cam caps in the mail today. Had the parts department order me plugs from the toyota dealer down the street.
After a quick google, amazon search, and what not all I can find are single post plugs? but reading on here on a a few other places mention double post plugs?
What the dealer sent me are Denzo K16TR11 plugs that have double post, anyone know if these are correct??
Want to double check before I dig into the job tonight after work.

yes dual electrode plugs are what we need in our 3.4's, they work great.

Been a while since Ive been on here, been super busy with work and school earlier this summer and life in general. Recently noticed a bunch of rust on my body coming back and need to address that soon before I can hit some trails. Drain plug on the driver floor board is rusted out (easy fix), the door sills are rusting out just inside the plastic trim, also dont think that will be too bad to repair, and where the front of the driver seat mounts has been rusted out on one side. I have that piece to replace already. That are redoing wiring are my next tasks.

As for updates, got my trailer mostly built and got my factory skids cleaned, painted and back on and installed a fumoto valve.

Still running strong, almost to the 200k club.

started collecting parts for electric fan setup

What was the procedure in replacing the output shaft seal? Any special tools needed? will it be the same procedure for the rear output shaft oil seal replacement?

Thanks!

Replaced the front output shaft seal on the transfer case.
Installed ARB diff breather kit.
Took it up to 8000ft to see fall colors

I was hoping you were going to say there was a 2uz somewhere in the garage....:bounce:

it's a cool swap for sure but, I have the super charger, headers all figured out for the 5vz so I will stick with it for now.

I know the electric fan conversion will not buy much but I have always wanted to try it. going to try these guys out WWW.AUTOCOOLGUY.COM AUTO COOL NB-50. I should have everything I need to test it out next weekend.

since Toyota sprinkled 1+ million 5vz in the US it seems like availability should not be an issue.

I have been trolling for used sequoias but seems like people like that 2uz engine they are harder to find.

my wife put down the law so I started the great master bathroom remodel, I'm gutting it out so my time will be spent there this winter. :(

You probably "owe" her at least that after your summer of wallet fires, haha. Tell us when to stop poking at the sore.

Interested to see how the fan project comes together.

I hope sleepydad takes some before and after pics, of the remodel that is.

I remember that the rage a decade ago for an electric fan was the Ford Taurus mod. It didn’t always work well for those who ran it. Will be curious to see the setup.

I remember that too...some people ending up going back to stock after trying it.
Agree on the curiosity.

Started tearing the '96 down today. Time to learn something new.

In my family pushing buttons is how we show love. If someone cries it’s because they can feel the love. I mess stuff up it’s what I do, I have made peace with it.

I spent yesterday busting up a 1950’s pink cast iron bathtub and hauling it away with the body and frame from my 2000 part out. Netted $32 dollars in scrap now that steel is .02 per pound. At least I did not have to pay to have hauled away.

It’s way too late for before pictures.

Well I wanted to get installed a 2nd trim packer on the driver's side last week before I take it in for a needed alignment. I also wanted to get the trim packer in before I drench everything in Fluid Film for the winter. Old man winter is knocking! While I was creeping around on the creeper I noticed a possible rust hole in front of the hitch mount on the driver's side. I then decided to removed the rear bumper and hitch so I could get a better look inside of the frame. I found a lot of flaky rust and sand. Much more debris on the driver's side than the passenger's side. I pulled most of it out with a 5' piece of conduit that I bent a 90 on. After it was relatively clean I smacked the underside with a rubber mallet. This broke up a lot more rust and exposed the holes. Luckily this is all repairable. Moral of the story for the rust belt dwellers is to keep the frame cleaned out as good as possible. Leaving a lot of sand and dust in the frame traps moisture and we all know what comes next.

Polished the original stock rims today. I sanded the corrosion off a few months ago before getting them polished up. I have been testing out metal polish on them since. I thought I would give a shout out to Never Dull Eagle One. I have tried quite a few and think i have a winner. It can also be used on the chrome pieces without any problem.

I also stripped the clear coat off of my stockers an hand polished the machined finish. I found White Diamond to be the winner. It seems to last longer than Mother's and sone Anerucan Racing stuff I bought.
