Replaced Fender Flare pads

I finally got around to replacing the fender flare pads. It's one of those aesthetic things that has been bothering me since I bought it. (I'm a bit OCD)

Looks much better now.

FYI, there are three different clips needed for these flares on my '02 sport edition (despite what the dealer told me)

Rear quarter panel uses pn: 90249-06132
rear door and front fender use a combination of the red and blue clips
pn: 90904-67037
pn: 90904-67036
all of them take rivets pn: 90269-04047

I went through that OCD exercise too, very hard to figure out the required clips, rivets, pads, and fasteners. My '97 used different rivets at the front and back ends of the front flare, the front one has a spacer - 53888-35010.

Oooh I'm planning to do the same plus the roof with Kilmat. Already did the 4 doors and that made a huge improvement. How does it sound afterwards?

While the carpet was out I decided to go ahead and take advantage and put some Kilmat down before I installed the new carpet. The new carpet from Stock Interiors was molded but not cut at all so that was the most difficult part. Overall it went well. It's not perfect but much better than that stinky old carpet I took out!

Well, mine was a bit unorthodox...I went after what I though was a crappy spray paint job with carb cleaner and a pressure washer cause it kept chipping off...turns out, it was a crappy plastidip job....and despite not getting it all off, I am way more pleased with the results than I should be...also realized my hood and fender are my 2 favorite 4Runner colors, but the rest is silver.

Today I put a huge hole in my girls fender...

So far she is enjoying it!

Master cylinder was going out so figured it was time for the TBU!

Also rehabbed the knuckles with some rust treatment and ubj’s, replaced brake lines, and put in energy suspension sway bar bushings... the driver sway link was shot and the passenger wouldn’t take the bushings so those are new too.

Stripped xfer case drain plug prevented the cv axle reboot for now.

Gotta torque everything down in the morning and get the brakes bedded in

In actuality, it took close to 2 months from the time I ordered to the day of pick up.

I have no regrets for the decision I made. I try to support local businesses...though local in my case means within the Bay Area-ish

They may also teach me how well my welds hold up in real world stress tests.������

Yea, I made a phone call the other day wondering what the ETA, The dude there told me about 8-10 weeks. I'm like damn! Been shopping around all over the net what MetalFabs charges for RS, so far BAMF is the cheapest around in the BAY!

Sadly, I don't have a welder and want to weld too! Maybe you can weld mine? haha. Let me know! I'm in Fremont!

Hello, thanks for the replay. I assumed there would need more photos. I have a video of the undercarriage which is pristine, however, don't know how to upload it.

Pulled my front seat rail bolts out today in advance of my bottom seat pan removal. Getting the bottoms repaired with vinyl. Still trying to make a decision on the heated seat install.
Was pretty cautious after reading all the threads about the damaged /fractured bolts. The 14mm bolts came out pretty easy, the most difficult were the rear outside bolts that thread through to the bottom on the outside. A bit of penetrant and a hard whack with screwdriver and hammer did the trick. I was pretty cautious tightening and loosening each bolt slowly and worked out perfect. The metal around the bolts were in pretty good condition.
i've been soaking all my bolts in vinegar then applying anti-seize with all my projects prior to fastening. Anyone else doing this?

Nice! Well it depends on your location. And how much info you can provide to show it’s been well taken care of. There is a 01 limited with 90k miles local to me going for 20k right now. It looks brand new. Not sure if he will get that much for it but that’s what it’s listed at.

No photos, but the above seat post reminded me that I finally hooked up my seat-warmers (BMW seats) for the wife. Simple on/off switch and she complained that it got so warm she had to turn it off after ~20 miles (her other car stays on high all the time). :flamethrwoer2:

I also dropped the rear mounts for the drivers seat about an inch. SOOOOOoooooooo..... much better for headroom for me at 6'4". Mounts were made from a piece of scrap 1.5" square tube. Door side was a simple affair, more or less just a ~2" long piece with 2 holes (one for te floor mount, one for the seat rail). Inboard was a little more complex, about 4" long, cut in half at the corners (form an L), cut an angle in the bottom and bend inwards, make some relief cuts here and there to clear the seat rail, weld up the bend and add a support gusset, holes for mounting. Fiddly work, but only with a cut-off wheel and a flux-core 110v welder.

Single best comfort change done... well, at least in conjunction with the BMW seats.
