Nice correctionSwapped the transfer case input shaft seal with Toyota 90311-40021
How much of a pita was that job?
Did you do any other work while you had the TC out?

Ha...I noticed I'd forgotten the all-important word 'seal'... big difference in those jobs!
The hardest part of replacing the input shaft SEAL was separating the transfer case from the taco box. Without (or with, but with more to do) the taco box there's pulling the driveshafts, unplugging things, removing the shifter after dealing with the shifter boot and trim too, then the separate the transfer case from the transmission. Once the thing is out the seal is right there, easy to get to.
The output shaft seals are a little more involved.
The seal itself was a matter of pulling the old one out and putting in a new one, and if you don't have a taco box...there's no fipg to deal with separating the transfer case from the transmission. That's a plus.
I also needed to pull the transmission for a warranty refresh.
On our out west there was some transfer of oil from the taco box to the transfer case so therefore the new seal. It wasn't much, but I had the units out of the truck so...
Resealed the replacement engine top to bottom and cleaned the heads and block of 20+ yrs of the crud build-up, put in a new clutch (not sure I'm a fan of the plastic and smaller spring size of the Aisin (OEM) replacement disc. Now i need to find a new home for this 97 manual.

Replaced a wheel stud that the good folks at Discount Tire twisted off for me when they were rotating my tires. I guess it randomly seized on there or the last time I had it in for a rotation it got over-torqued or cross threaded.

Good luck with the fuel filter. I've done mine twice in 10 years. Just recently attempted it for a third time and it doesn't want to give. But I'm hopeful that I'll get it eventually. Don't forget to post pics!

Replaced the climate control head with a used unit. Will eventually get the old
one repaired.
Replaced the leaky o-ring at the low side port; pulled a vacuum and recharged
the a/c with 2 cans of refrigerant.
Got the ignition cylinder repaired and a new key cut - it was getting balky.
Don't let this one slide, boys and girls. If one or more wafers drop into the
barrel far enough, the cylinder has to be drilled out.

But it's lifetime....no interval for replacement in the FSM lol

Man you know darn well what comes out of those things when people change theirs. Both times it was after 50K miles. I like having peace of mind knowing that I've got clean fuel going into my engine. It's cheap maintenance, just a pain in the ass to do.

Fixed my window for the 2nd time this year :frusty:
Silicone I used to secure it to the regulator arm came apart, upon feeling it it was still super squishy and not very firm so I probably didn't use something appropriate. Tried a different bottle this time but if it happens again I'm goin with somethin way heavy duty like windshield adhesive :gun4:

Sometimes its the small fixes that make the most differencesnagged a couple of these tiny A/C vent washers from the junkyard...no more floppy vents!
I tell her that every time we....
I feel that in my soul man...

Fun times in the mountains this weekend. The 1st gen got the job of towing the tractor up the rutted out trail to the top lot since it has 4.7 tcase gears
Did some truck camping up at the lot
I also got the try out my Visual Autowerks rear window vent. It worked well as a bug-free vent but I'm a little underwhelmed with it overall. The plastic edges were sharp and had to be deburred. I added some felt tape to prevent it from scratching up my back window. The edges don't really fit the opening 100%. Ho hum!
