I swapped my rear 3rd member to a 4.88 to see how I like it.

Did inner axle seals and began to put disk brakes on the rear with E-brakes. will have a write up soon if things don't go terribly wrong tomorrow :jump:

Got my horrible pulsating brakes fixed! Turns out it was the rear drums. Now I don't get tons of rattles from interior pieces upon braking!

Well after doing my rear brake shoes today, I'm very interested in this. A rear disk conversion e-brake sounds fantastic.

Another day has come and gone and I still don't have the rear brakes finished but I am much closer. Should be done tomorrow. I hope

Installed new radiator and tranny cooler. While skid plates were off, I cleaned 100,000 miles of oil change drips off the rear plate. Then, changed the oil and filter, switching from conventional to synthetic with a K&N filter. I'll run this oil 5,000 miles, take a sample and have it analyzed to determine my runout period, which I would like to have occur between 10,000 to 13,000 miles.

Hoped to get to my fog hid conversion, but ran out of time.

Bought a new axle housing so I don't have to retrofit mine to fit the factory e locker and got some new cloth seats from a wilson.

Tomorrow the rear end is going in. I need my 4wd back! Sad to say but i got stuck in a parking lot today on a pile of snow. I literally had to winch myself off of it. I would have been fine if I had 4wd dang it.

No I didn't have room... dang baby is taken up all the room these days with all her baby stuff she has to have. Stroller, diaper bag, carseat, etc... lol but I love her though. I was going to put them on the roof but the weather isn't anywhere near nice enough.

And as for the parking lot ordeal, I was like are you kidding me? It sank all the way down to the frame as soon as I got all the way ontop of the snow. People were driving by looking at me like wtf is this wanna be 4wheeler doing? As I pull my winch out to hook halfway across the parking lot to hook to one of the only trees around.. I learned my lesson and won't be playing on any snow banks anymore..

A friend of mine and I installed the Refurbished Denso Fuel Injectors into the truck..and it's running GREAT!

Seems like my steering rack has sprung a leak, more likely the inner seal is done as I watch the fluid drain thru the ITR boot....remedied it temporarily with Lucas thick viscosity fluid and next thing you know it........leaks gone!:guitar2:

Removed 3 rattles:

Tape around the rear seat latches.
Felt on the rear cargo bay storage box.
Felt on the righthand side trunk panel.

Now if I could just find that elusive rattle inside the instrument cluster area. I wish I knew how to get in there. :crybaby:

I've got an annoying rattle from up under what sounds like the instrument cluster or in the firewall somewhere - I realize it could be anything but would be interested to know what you find if you get around to it. I've also got a couple of squeaks and rattles coming from the rear - one, which definitely sounds like the seat latches. Did you just run some tape around the metal peg thingies?

Oh yeah, what did I do to my 4Runner today? Cleaned the road salt off all the windows and lights - need to hit the car wash tomorrow to get it all off the frame (until it snows again that is).

I've had this same issue with the "rattle" on the firewall too and I may have found the source. I really thought it was plastic sitting under the windshield wipers but while driving, I notice my hood vibrates somewhat. What I did was place a thin film of white lithium grease on the back weatherstripping under the hood by the windshield. It has'nt rattled since! If you look at the bottom of the hood, you'll notice were the weatherstrips rubs and dulls/removes the paint.

Ordered a Borla XR-1 #40941 to replace the stock muffler. Decided on the 40941 mainly due to LINY4Runner's videos, with the 40942 [another member has vids of this one] was a close second. After hearing all the trouble COB had with Magnaflow, I definitely wasn't going to go that route!

Stock muffler lasted 207k, and it limped along those last 30k... I don't know the proper term, but the metal shield surrounding the muffler rusted off a few years back.. the muffler had rust holes in it around the same time as that.. and a few weeks ago one of the baffles broke loose and rattles like crazy under mild acceleration.

The rust holes actually sounded decent, but the rattling baffle is embarrassing! The new one should be here on Wednesday thanks to Amazon Prime's free 2-day shipping.
