What did you do with your 4runner today?

Just the jack that came with the 4runner….figured that would be okay. Thats the only thing I would use if I ever got a flat since I don't carry a jack stand in my black box. Yes, I have a black box its full of goodies!!

I will say I don't think the original jack has ever been used before, I am going to look into getting a better one.

Today I Painted my front and rear silver bumper inserts black, also re-did the bush bar. It was black and silver and starting to have some rust spots so i sanded it all down, few coats of primer followed by two cans of bed liner.

ALMOST did that one but I liked the Tundra version just a bit more. I like that one though! Considering doing that one in the back above the 4Runner. Metalmiller is making me a front emblem, can't wait to see it. Hope it turns out well.

For whatever reason, my driver door tweeter and speaker went out. So I decided to give it a lookie-loo. Took it apart to find a crap ton of Dynomat and a wonky looking Wiring Job. Found out that the Crossover for the Clarion speakers (where there with the car) had a loose connection to the power, so just cleaned up the connections, replaced the connection to the speakers with 16 gauge speaker wire, and now it sounds pretty!

Hopefully the rear-view camera shows up tomorrow, and I get the joys of installing that too!

I finally got to test out the VSC cut off switch. With 6 inches of fresh snow I spun around a parking lot giggling like a little kid for a while before heading home.

Saturday: Installed new O2 sensors, washed & vacuumed the 4R.
Sunday: Drove the family and dog up to Mt Rainier National Forest.

I hate to sound like a broken record but please please please never go under your truck again with just a jack supporting it, let alone the factory emergency jack!

The emergency jack is for just that, emergencies...they are very easy to topple over. When I was younger and dumber I've had a car fall off emergency jack while I was laying on the ground. Fortunately for me it toppled away from me and not on top of me.

But even if you had used a bigger floor jack still never go under there without proper jack stands supporting it. Just make it a habit to treat any jack as if it could give out at any second and you will stay much safer

Not sure if you are new to wrenching on cars/trucks but if you are, once you get yourself a set of jack stands, read the factory manual to see where the proper support points are along the under carriage and set them under there. Finally, what I like to do is give them a quick "kick test" before going under to make sure it's all nice and sound.

Pick up a set of jack stands if you are going to be under the truck. The emergency jack is fine to change a tire, but when you change a tire you are not under the truck.

Toyotas are inherently boring. Many people, including me, like it that way. Hell, my family is a Toyota family. Anyway, saw a 2013 CRV and was impressed by it. My 07 Civic (only non-Toyota currently in our family fleet............. wait, no, my brother has a KIA Optima) has 157K miles on it and hasn't made a peep.

First time I jacked it up on my own and took one of the tires off :reddance:



Cleaned off one of the CV boots trying to find a leak and found nothing.



And took off the roof rack!!

Never ever trust a jack. If you HAVE to use the bottle jack (flat tire) never have your foot, arms, or head under the truck. Don't even put your head in the wheel well.

It took me a few times to learn that, but it's vital info.

Also never use jack stands on a hot asphalt driveway without wood blocks. They sink in and can fall over with the truck's weight on them.

Sears usually sells a complete kit of a creeper, a 3 ton jack, and 2 beefy jack stands for pretty cheap. I'd check them out for the future!

Yes it is. Safety is #1. Make sure you do all the research you can before attempting anything. I always make sure the truck is SOLID on the stands before even touching it.

If I was under the truck when this happened, I wouldn't be typing this right now.

My caliper slide pin backed out and went into my wheel and did WORK on my Method. Was wheeling and heard clank clank clank thinking it was a CV blown up.

wrong. clip was fine i had just checked everything before that trip. Was a very weird freak accident. Was a terrible weekend too, same day my CDL froze on me.
