Crutchfield does advertise on the basis that ANYONE can do it. Besides, finding a competent installer who isn't an absolute criminal isn't easy. If you know how to find one in my area let me know.

What did I do today?
Finished the sleeping platform for my upcoming Desert Overland trip, leaving 4 weeks from today! :clap2:
I was going to try to "anchor" the platform to the load deck with a set of U bolts, turnbuckles, etc, but then when I looked at it, I realized I could do it much simpler with a ratchet strap:
That ratchet strap attaches to the two factory tie down D rings that are permanently attached to the floor on the 4runner on each side of the cargo area (4 total.) That will secure the driver's side.
The passenger side will be secured with a ratchet strap that holds my cargo in. I did a "practice packout" with the large, inflexible Items I'll be carrying: My cooler, small fridge, water can, and a lantern box:
The ratchet strap attaches to the passenger side rear D ring in the back and to the U-bolt for the seat back in the front:

Installed the Daystar 1" Budget Boost up front and the DS 1.5" spacer in the rear today. I really like how it turned out, and it wasn't too hard of a process with the right tools and some helping hands. Took about 5 hours total. Think we may have split the drivers side front ABS cable though, as the ABS/VSC/TRAC lights are all on solid. I'll have to check it out in the morning with the mulitmeter. I'll also get some measurements and comparisons up tomorrow.

Plastidipped my rear chrome and front chrome grill. Gotta do the wheels and badges next. Switched out spark plugs, and dropped my tranny pan. All went good until I was putting my pan back in. As I was going around to tighten all the bolts to hold the pan in place, one of the heads of a bolt popped off like I tightened it too much. Then trying to refill with fluid, I had some crappy suction gun that would leak everytime I flipped upside down to shoot it up. Somehow went through juuuuust over 5qts. Im sure I wasted about a qt in my hair and shirt though. Magnets were pretty clean, so next time im just gonna do a drain and fill. Best part, I got it done!!! Axle seal on drivers side looks to be leaking. And I tore a slit in my cv boot within the past month. I swear I go through cvs like no other....

You have a walk through on the tranny job? Also depending while,you have the plastidip out if your handles are chrome as well hit those.

Another day, another winter storm. Today it's just sleet, luckily. We usually get butt raped with a couple inches of ice that rip up trees, and cause homes to go without power for extended stretches. I was bored at home so I got out to grab a bite to eat, and wanted to check out the town.
