ran out of black electrical tape halfway into this mod but here is how its mounted and wired

i would not have my socket occupied like that. i would go behind the socket and hard wire it into the lines and put a 20amp fuse inline. cleaner look and you dont run the risk of the socket getting water in and rusting out.

Why? Usually there is a reverse line in that socket.I have not looked lately but the Nissan I did last week had reverse in that socket

That socket is wired with weather packs to prevent moisture from creating shorts.. cutting into the wire opens it up to the possibility of shorting out the lights.


No moisture issues from cutting into a wire thats inside the cabin also creates a cleaner look IMO

Some fire usually expedites those problem and makes it a non problem. I have learned from this truck to NOT mess with the rusty jobs and pay someone to do it...lot less stress and time

I tired heat first. Didnt make them budge. I dont mind working on it myself. Currently waiting for school to start so I dont really have much else to do. Plus I dont even want to think how much this would have cost to have someone else do it.

i dont think rain is going to be a problem with the plug. its not as bad as when i found a 7 pin to 5 pin adapter in there right before i did this mod. the previous owner left it on the truck and i didnt know and i had done two wheeling trips this year with water crossings

Kinda hard to beat brand new bushings, clean ball joints, and no rust because they came from NorCal

The bushing will not move. It actually bent the floor plate on a 2ton press. We didnt even get to the part where the bushing bulges out. Already ordered a new control arm from rockauto. I hope the other side goes better.

Got back in town from my Oakland/LA flips for the week. Have all this hwy50 construction going on, and decided to come home from another direction.

Got to the off ramp light and stopped next to a car next to me, the guy decided to check me out from the side, pulled up a little to give the front a look at, and when the light turned green, he changed lanes to see the back side. Followed me almost to home.

Don't understand why, he had a nice set of legs sitting next to him that to me looked better than my junker.

Did some errands with the wife and baby.

Watched "Tangled" for the 20th time while wifey shopped. Kept my daughter calm. For those with kids, these DVD headrest monitors are worth their weight in gold.

After dinner, changed the oil/filter/air filter/cabin filter. Was going to wash it, but it rained pretty hard in SE PA tonight.

Ordered a new MAP DVD Gen5, ver13 for the NAV. Should be in soon. Seriously considering NAV over-ride mod (screen unlock bypass) by J.A. Very annoying when I can't do anything with the NAV while in motion. Seems easy to install (never knew he sold a kit for that)....Anyway..............Thanks [MENTION=15785]J.A.[/MENTION] !!

Need a little R & R; assuming it doesn't rain all day

on Saturday, going to toss the trap gun and a few boxes of shells into the 4Runner and ease on over to the MNCPPC Skeet and Trap range in Greenbelt MD, and try to break a few clays w/o embarrassing myself or scaring onlookers. Here's hoping for decent weather.

Replaced a bunch of burnt out climate control bulbs. At least I think I did, it's still too bright out to be sure I got it all right.

Well it took 2 tries but I got them all, knew I ordered a full set of bulbs for a reason .

Ironically, the 2 bulbs that actually still worked seemed to blow when I pulled and replaced the panel. I I had to pull it back out and change those as well. It's so easy to do so it wasn't a big deal.

I do have one bulb left over though, no idea where it goes (short/wide black base)

painted my sliders after a long winter and did some gear oil. stripped the front diff drain plug because it's a dumbass allen wrench socket and i'll deal with that today
