What did you do with your 4runner today?

I used a leftover piece of Lexan from building my roof rack wind fairing. I already have the color match spray paint for little projects such as this.

I started with a piece of cardboard to make a template, then cut out the Lexan with a scroll-saw. I used sandpaper on my workbench to get the edges straight.

To mount it, I used a thin piece of aluminum. I bent the aluminum at weird angles so that I could still get at the screw that can be seen in the hole. I used this screw to mount the bracket I made. Before mounting, I cut the aluminum to match the tip of the Lexan so I could maximize the surface area. To cut the aluminum, I scored it with my Dremel cutting blade, then broke it along the line. I used double sided 3M tape to sick it to the bracket.

The only issue I have is the profile. It looks fine, but my OCD would like it to have a curve to the profile. If I ever have a moment, I may tinker with making the trim piece out of something that I can bend.

Since you're now an expert to the fill piece ;) Would you be interested in making a couple more to sell? I'd LOVE to have this once I complete my conversion!

Wasn't planning on it, but I might. If I get time over the Christmas break, I may tinker with a different material that I can match the profile of the headlights. If I do, and it is something I can easily replicate, I can make a few copies. In that case, I will create a new thread.

At the very least, if people are interested, I could post up a pdf of a "to-scale" template so you don't have to mess around with a piece of cardboard.
 
Just ordered some Yokohama Geolander AT/S tires for winter. Going to keep my Nittos for summer and get some TRD rims for summer time :clap2:
 
Washed it after a weekend road trip thru 3 mountain passes all involving snow...

New Cooper AT3's performed nice - happy with how they handled the winter weather.

Just a thought: why wouldn't you just do the entire piece, rather than an add-on to the existing trim piece? It would look much cleaner.

FYI this is way beyond my skill level. Congrats on what you've been able to do. It looks good.

It's for the 80 series LC, it's $70 on ebay or amazon. I've come dangerously close a few time so that's why i went ahead and did one.I don't really love deeep water or mudd but better to have it and not need it that need it and not have it as they say! Plus i think they looks awesome haha
 
My 4th Gen, 6700ft above sea level at Lake Tahoe, CA

This is the first time I've posted a pic of my 4runner. Bought her at 130k miles... this is 7000 miles later. Bone Stock Handles snow beautifully.

I saw those on eBay, I'm definitely gonna buy one. I don't wanna spend $400 bucks on one and then cut a hole in the fender but for &70 bucks I can do that
 
Played in the snow with some 3rd gens and a Tundra yesterday. Tundra almost got in a ditch and had to be winched out. Made for an exciting day.

it connects to a 3m sticky with a steel circle.. and the mount sticks to that steel piece.. I was skeptical at first with it being attatched with the 3m tape but it is very very sturdy. almost pulls my interior trim off when i pull the magnet off it haha. I haven't had any problems with heat affecting it!!
 
Havent posted much lately, but regeared my rear diff last night. Found a third member out of a 94 4runner with a V6 and auto transmission, which came with factory 4.88's. Picked it up from a salvage yard for $200. Threw it in last night, and worked perfectly.
