What did you do with your 4runner today?

Quick wash and put the center caps on ( I am not a fan of the caps ) Iwill paint over the stupid emblem in the spring. 39* is cold for washing!

It was a nice 70* outside so I painted the inside of the fog lights and turn signals black.

Left my 4Runner at the shop. Fingers crossed, new control arms getting replaced under warranty. Warranty inspector is looking at it today prior to approval.

Pending approval, I was looking at replacing UCAs with Camburg ball joints ones as I don't off-road much and didn't want to worry about maintaining uniball ones. Compelling reason to do uniball? And if yes, Camburg? Icon? Warranty will pay cost for OEM arms and I'd pay the difference

Wtf! 1200 labor to replace uca's! Ohmergerd their insane! 30 minutes a side and it's done.... Sheesh. People wonder why I don't go to the stealership!
With that said, if they are footing the bill and you don't offroad much get uca's with balljoints. Don't care what brand, they'll all work good for you.

That cost is both upper and lower control arms on both sides, alignment, and labor to replace all the driveshaft ujoints. +100 for the initial suspension inspection. Not a dealer, local offroad shop.

A little steep maybe, but I don't give a rip how much they charge if warranty covers it.

New ignition coils from Accel yesterday. Will monitor fuel consumption for a few tanks and report back. No difference in throttle response -bummer. Was hoping for the same night and day difference my Demon coil made for my Jeep.

Started in on the electrical projects, I built a little 9-wire jumper harness and traded places for the 115V switch and DAC switch, leaving a blank on the dash for the ABS/trac/Vsc disable switch (wanted to keep all my "driving aids" switches together), and then installed some USB ports in the center console utilizing the unused connector for power, leaving a blank for the light bar switch (keeping all my "convenience" switches together). There's a couple illumination wires in that connector too, those will come in handy! I also ran the wires for the traction switch and the light bar harness. Waiting on Mojavemadman flush light bar mounts and the other two switches. I also need to paint the glossy USB cover to match and knock down some of that bright blue LED.

Replaced the tie rod ends, replaced a cv inner boot, and flipped my UCAs uniballs in the right way. Then drove dangerously with too much positive camber to get an alignment.

I got the passenger axle out. Now all that's left on that side is the lower ball joint which I'll deal with in the morning. It's hammertime...

how much?? and let us know any change they made..

packed up for a quick desert trip with my son and another guy tomorrow. Way more stuff than I'd usually take, but it's nice to see everything actually fits if I need it to. Only thing I don't have is my pop up canopy and my big ice chest. Used two smaller ice chests instead this time around.
