What did you do with your 4runner today?

Yesterday while drilling out the PO busted skid plate bolts I discovered 2 things.

1. I have somehow lost my tap/die set
2. My front passenger caliper is frozen.

Since I am in pay off vs mod mode I went with NAPA lifetime warranty calipers vs doing a 5th gen upgrade. $100 bucks each plus powder coated, will work just fine for me.

I need to do some rust control on the frame what is everyone using? I am not making a show truck but the rust HAS to go.

Actually something for the runner. Did this couple of months ago, just decided to see if I built it right. It fits.

I could actually use a new spare tire hanger. Mine is pretty rusty and the cable is frayed.

This is the shape it's in. No frays! I could be persuaded to fit it in a (if it fits it ships) size box @ USPS. @ cost of box and couple dollars over just for irritating me to go to the post office.

Here's the area where I was at. We followed the dirt road that heads east and then it looped back around, doesn't look like it has a name though.

7917-7921 Jericho Rd, Joshua Tree, CA
That's funny I was gonna list Jericho and tell you that it probably doesn't have an actual name cause most of them are extensions made over time branching off from the named main trails or main trails taken farther forward across that area of the Joshua Tree desert and many of them will take you to some crazy old mines some still active by some and many abandoned. Many many ..trails, canyon washes, etc out there about 50% not mapped and unnamed but they all end up tying into a main trail Rd to one of the four exit/entry points.
I like it out there a lot of different terrain changes and landscape views.

Dropped Gertrude off at the shop to get the headers installed and the exhaust made. Should have it back on Wednesday. Can't wait!

Could have atleast used a a cool looking MT Tread!! Lol
That's added traction..

It's not like I find MT Gators just laying around the highway. This was a recap piece I didn't have to trim much of the original tire off of it.

There used to be an outfit that used to sell these a few years back, just decided to do my own.

Have you used a high lift on a rocky/marble coated trail? Taking a chance on the original base to slip and slide.

And here I used to like you. LOL. Been keeping my eye on you lately.
So hows that Spartin working for you on the street? Any major locking in while driving, I do realize you have to be a little easier on the pedal while driving in certain situations.

Yeah, first time I've branched from the main camping sites, I loved it out there. We were actually scouting out the area for a group camping trip in mid march.

Replaced lower ball joint boot with this: "4334569025 - Lower Arm Ball Joint Boot For Toyota - Febest" from Amazon. I split the original one replacing the shocks and springs when I used a pry bar to push down on the lower control arm. I loosened the lower control arm cam bolts on the other side as I didn't want to have to do both. It was an easier job than I figured.

Also had to drill and tap the four front skid plate nuts. The PO must have stripped two of them out as they wouldn't hold a bolt. I used 10x1.25 bolts I purchased from Autozone. Now my front skid bolts take a 14mm socket and the back on uses the original size 12mm socket.

Wait speaking of March I've got something you would totally dig on its right up your alley, which I just invited TheSentinel as well, what's the 4th 5th and 6th looking like for you? Reason and what depending on what the answer to your schedule looks like. Lol

pm sent. definitely interested.

Finally got the front lift done. Only took a week and a day. On to the rear tomorrow...

It's higher than I expected. The tires look tiny on there...

Buddy- i have wet dreams atleast 3x week about that kit.

But its a 25k cost just for body kit....then new suspension, brakes..and of course engine upgrades...all of this... = divorce.:uzi:

Did y'all see that article where they tried to race some RWB cars in an endurance race? It ended about as well as you'd expect. :D
