What did you do with your 4runner today?

Called around to the local toyo specialty shops to get someone to look at the truck. Chasing around a horrible truck/steering wobble that I can't for the life of me figure out and it's gotten worse. Have pushed and pulled on everything and I just can't find it. 2 alignments, 3 times balancing my new tires and nothing. Hoping they can get this figured out so I can drive on the highway again.

Have you checked your wheel bearings? Tie Rods? LCA bushings?

Best is to lift the front end off the ground, grab the tire at 9 and 3 and see if it wobbles. Also try at 12 and 6. If it is that, don't go back to where you got your alignments and balancing, they should have picked up on that.

If it wobbles that bad you can't drive on the highway, you should be able to find it by lifting it off the ground.

when does it happen? All the time? Low speed? High Speed? Braking?

Found a separated passenger CV boot late last night....going wheeling today and don't wanna get dirt in the bearings.

Ghetto solution:

Wrap axle in a piece of plastic, hose clamp on each end. One on the shaft, one on the boot. New axle ordered and on the way

(Ironically, my 3000GT destroyed a front right CV a week or so ago at the drag strip. Just not my month for axles, I suppose)

Got my 40" bar mounted. Used these brackets a budy bent for me. Just bolted them to the rails with some channel nuts and bolted it to them. I thought I could run the wires under the end caps but that didn't work so ran them on the side with a couple zip ties. Didn't even have to take the end caps off to mount it. Replacing my LED bar and bumper this weekend, also going to bake my retrofitted headlights and try to clean out the outgassing that showed up on the inside of the lenses. Should be a fun weekend :frisky:

Hahaha. Spent hardly any time on the bumper, mostly just wiped it. Planning on cleaning the underside Monday

Got a place all lined up to powdercoat it pink arty: (jK) Looking forward to getting it installed!! Alignment after installation of steel bumper?

UCA's arrive in a couple of weeks. Planning to pickup a set of RCI skids and sliders if the group buy discount is right. Full OME suspension once somebody offer's a sale.

Shouldnt need an alignment... just depends on how bad your springs are. you are running FJ's right?

I did a weight simulation (~170 lbs on the front bumper) and it dropped between 1/4 and 1/2"

Bumper is only 140 lbs, skids would bring it back up however

at a quick glance that looks extremely similar to the Shrockworks bumper!

Installed a 32" light bar into the front grill. Took a lot of experimentation to get it mounted, and a ton of confusion and frustration to get it wired. I surfed forums for hours trying to figure out that the final wire went to on the switch harness. (Black to ground, green to positive battery, and red #1 to white wire from relay). Read that the remaining red #2 goes to a dimmer wire so that the switch backlight will come on with the dash lights, but didn't know which wire in the dash was the appropriate dimmer wire to splice into. Final answer, USE THE DARK GREEN ONE BEHIND THE DIMMER DIAL OR REAR WINDOW SWITCH.

In the end I'm happy with how it looks in the bumper, and the switch is nice although a bit bright.

Next project is mount these rear lights on the rear spoiler. Either bottom or top but I can't decide how I'm going to be able to mount them into the plastic.. maybe drywall anchors? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0197ZQLBA?psc=1

Do you have wheel spacers? I once had a shop forget to torque down my spacers and they came loose. A couple weeks after the appointment. Ended up shearing the lugs off.
