What did you do with your 4runner today?

Sure. Rotora has a kit. You will need 18” wheels to run 14” rotors.

First, remove the stock rotors and calipers.

For the front: Remove the metal center hub caps. Remove the locking pins, remove the front 36mm nuts and loosen four bolts to remove the front hubs. Remove the stock metal dust shields. Install larger rotors. Install caliper brackets. Install calipers. Install pads.

For the rear: After removing stock rotors and calipers, cut the dust shields. Install larger rotors. Install caliper brackets. Install calipers. Install pads.

Bleed system.

Can you elaborate on what all you had to do to be able to install such big rotors on your T4R?

started the process of gutting the whole interior to clean carpet and clean out floors under carpet. Previous owner was apparently a disgusting person. I took pictures of the stuff in the back, the front is even dirtier.:cry:

only thing I broke is the two small pieces of plastic trim that hold carpet down in the very back, so I gotta find those also

Im getting new carpet in part of the house so Im gonna get some extra pad and replace the stuff under my trucks carpet. I dont think it will be too difficult. I know the truck is gonna smell way better when Im done.

RCI Skids

Got my RCI Front Skid and A-Arm skids installed today from the recent group buy. Absolutely blown away by the turn around. Ordered Monday, received and installed today! Also ordered a Gobi ladder, but who knows how long that's gonna take to get here.

Had a trip to the beach and on the way home my wife says the glove box is stuck and won't open. So I pulled over and yanked it down, shocked to see black sticky gunk on top of the wiring at the side of the glovebox.

Initially I thought the wiring was melted from being parked in the sun but when I got home and had a closer look it was some kind of insulation melted.

Strange and freaked me out, I thought the wiring to my ecu was going to be ruined.

Does the kit come with new shields for the front, or do you just remove them altogether and not have them?

The install calls for cutting the dust shields. I removed them altogether for the fronts. After driving a few miles however, it appears cutting the dust shields are necessary. I will need to place some washers between the brackets and the hub for a mm more clearance. No biggie.

If you don't mind saying, what's the approximate cost of the kits..front...rear?

Do you have a link for where you got the kits, I looked online but was having a hard time finding exactly what you seem to have purchased, Rotora doesn't seem to sell directly from their website at least not presently since they don't have their "Catalog" working yet and no vendor search it seems as yet, and most of the links for apparent vendors on doing a web search were all over the place and most not very helpful.

These kits are not cheap. I got in touch with Loren at Rotora. I will post a full review once pads are bedded and I’ve had a chance to get on the brakes.

I would encourage anyone interested to contact Loren directly.

I had to replace the passenger side exhaust manifold today.

What a ***** of a job, took almost 4 hours.

But no more tick, tick, tick, tick

I really need to do this too, but I'm holding off as long as I can. on the old one, can you actually see where the leak is?

Hi everyone, I brought mine home today for the 1st time. After a 19 yr absence i decided it was time to go back to my roots. BIG SMILES here in Surprise, Az..

This is a brutal job, I replaced the passenger one on my v6. I used a plasma torch to cut the nuts in half. The manifold metal on the v6 is thin and warps leading to it leaking at the block.

Today? I checked the sunroof for leaks, yesterday I bought it and drove three hours home.
Verified one owner 2003 limited with the v8. All maintenance done meticulously at Toyota dealer, 152k on the clock. Pretty clean. 8300 bucks out the door. Think I got a decent deal?
Keep slinging mud from those tires!!

Mine's been ticking for a while and I'm afraid this is what it is. *Really* not looking forward to doing it. Might just spring for headers when it comes time - to make it more worth it in my mind.

To verify my leak I turned my home air compressor pressure way down to 30 and rigged it up to the tail pipe using some fittings, a spray paint cover and a clamp. I slowly applied air while listening for hissing. The leak became apparent pretty quickly.

Wish I had an air compressor :/ I do have one spot under the cabin that definitely has a leak of its own, (I can see the black where exhaust comes out) but I think I hear one around the manifolds as well.

Exhaust shops around here are cheap enough I'll just take it to one for diagnosis.
