What did you do with your 4runner today?

Easy enough test lol. I got them 15% off for black Friday from optoffroad.com I had emailed Duro themselves and they said no black Friday, then I stumbled across that website so I was pretty happy since they aren't cheap. Came out to about the price of wheelers on a similar sale, and from what I've read people prefer the Duro.

Dang I wish I knew about that. Oh well, they are installed and holding up great. I read some reviews of the wheelers vs duro and people were recommending the durobumps.
Hit some large pot holes on purpose today and it took it nicely. :car:

Pretty good, with a few really frustrating parts!

There are a couple brackets on the frame that need to be hacked off before install. Victory’s video didn’t mention them at all. I picked the bumper up at their shop with the plan of throwing a couple bolts in to get it home. Had to tweak the brackets with the BFH in the parking lot to fit it in place.

The fit on the bumper is great, everything seemed to line up perfect for my test fits.

When it came time to install it for good, I could NOT get one side to line up properly. Turns out that one of my pod lights was hitting the frame rail. I ended up forcing it into place, but the light is misaligned, and I’ll have to pull the bumper to hack it up for clearance. The pod light holes aren’t slotted, but they should be for adjustment.

If you have adventure carriers, you have to install the latch catches on the bumper before putting it on the truck. You can’t get to them after it’s installed.

If you have the ladder, the bottom step will hit the bumper when you open the carrier. I bent mine up to clear, but Victory will need to slightly redesign it for better clearance.

The Jerry can carrier also doesn’t seem to fit the Scepter water jugs, I have a note to Victory asking about that.

The powder coating on my bumper seems a little thin / under cured. It seemed to crack / chip off a lot easier than I’d expect, be careful with it.

I also installed my Front Runner table, this is going to work perfect!

This is just the response I needed, thank you! Disappointing to hear there were a couple unforeseen cuts and hacking. No adventure carriers for me (not yet at leasts). I appreciate all the info and will be posting pics in a couple weeks once the transformation is complete.

Installed a remote start from 12Volt Solutions. Both regular and long range remotes work great and install was only about a hour. Plug & play and under $350.

Spent most of the day swapping out new latches on my rear bumper swing arms. These latches can't use ratchet cause of space between bolts so had to do manually with open end wrench. Also added some black cover to my lights on roof.

Installed some Durobumps bump stops. Front and rear. I can feel the difference just pulling out the driveway. You don't get the jolt like you do with the stock ones. Kinda expensive but worth it.

Bottom line: All of what's described below aside, quality bump stops are definitely a solid upgrade to an often overlooked suspension component.

Rest of the story: I went back & forth on these for a long time due to their expense but got SuperBumps at 10% off from Wheeler's a while back. It took weeks for them to arrive - understandable given the pandemic - but their "just get the customer off the phone" service was pretty awful. As one example of several, I called one day to be told "that order is shipping today." Followed up a few days later to ask about an email with shipping details only to have someone else say, "Oh, we didn't have all the parts but they'll be on the way soon." Look, I understand if you have issues, just tell me the truth.

Eventually they arrived but I will think long and hard before buying from Wheeler's again.

Nah. They don't completely cover the area where the rear cover is removed. I'm not interested in their solution.

Spent like 10 hours today/yesterday fabbing up my $280 Jegs generic sliders. Looks like they'll be fitting great! Everything is put together and they just need to be welded up to my frame. Gonna borrow a lift from a buddy for that part. I'll get some pics up when things are finished

I spoke to them and I asked specifically for a full size bumper, they said they will cut me some plates that will fill up the gap all the way up to the tail lights making it into a full sized bumper.

Finally removed my xreas after over a year. The lines were just hanging loose. Removed my side steps so the wife hates me now and also put on some 5th gen trail wheels.

Bought my '07 SE in October 2014 with 95,700 on the odometer and just passed 195,700 so I have 100K+ miles of ownership. Must say I've enjoyed every mile as this is my favorite of all the vehicles I've owned.

Also replaced the parking lamps* with LEDs (194A) since one had gone out. Pretty sure they were the stock bulbs from the look of them so I'll give it a pass since it lasted 13+ years (my truck was built in Sep 2006).

* The way auto manufacturers use such formal, old school terms like "lamps" has always been funny to me.

i had been hording my power stop z36 brake kit for a few months hoping to knock it out at the same time i put my new wheels on. Well, the wheels have been delayed once more until the end of December so knocked them out before winter gets too bad. While I was in there I cleaned up my differential and a lot of weld spots on the frame. No major rust anywhere other than those weld spots and gas tank skid which i need to drop and replace the straps on anyway. Now just waiting on my bronze FN five stars and BXBuilt headlights with quad projectors and quad halos i snagged for a crazy deal on black friday. As far as the brakes go and being my first brake job it was fairly simple, until i got to bleeding to front driver side caliper. I noticed brake fluid flooding out of the caliper itself where the two pieces meet at the seem, no bueno. I called power stop Friday at 3:30 i got two new calipers and a full set of brake pads(which i can keep) at 10:15am saturday. Crazy good customer service. The brakes are great, smooth, effective and clearly pretty. We shall see how they hold up down the line.

Finally took some time to paint the rear door that was fixed and primered some months back along with all the plastic trim around that was faded bad from spending most of its 17 years in Florida.

Neighbors looked at me pretty funny..

I opened up my aftermarket radio install and actually used wire nuts to reconnect all the wires. Original owner just wrapped the wires together and used electrical tape. I was getting dashboard warning lights and glitches in the radio and had to pull the fuse on a trip this week.

I was about to remove my Daystar level kit, but got to the lower front strut bolt and the bushing is frozen to the bolt. Hammered until the end started to splay out and no budge. So i'll wait until the KYB quick struts are shot and cut them out in 50k miles or so.
