Finally got a chance to do an oil change on my 4Runner and took it in to get a nail removed from one of my tires.
Shit, reminds me that I really need to get off my ass and remove/reseal my passenger side headlight, it's gotten a lot of moisture trapped in there that the halo went out. :yell:

Tried and failed with the TCS mod and toggle switch.
Saw moisture in my Spyder brand headlamps so this past weekend I took them off and let them sit in front of a fan for 2 days. Yes, 2 days. I put another bead of silicone around each seal and hooked them back up. Only to find out when it rained 30 minutes later…..drumroll please…….MOISTURE AGAIN! This picture doesn’t do it justice, it’s completely fogged over now.

I tried four sets of them. All the same. Only think that worked for that last one was not plugging the high beam bulb. Let it breath. I use my light bar for my high beam. Now no fogging or leaking. Crazy.

you probably need a vent hole of some sort. You can also throw in some silica bags.
I would recommend wet sanding and spraying it with 2k Clear. Very very easy to do.

I changed my headlights to Sealight LEDs. This was a bundle off Amazon that included the Scoparc S1 hi/low and aux bulbs for $66. Pics are a comparison to 1 year old Sylvania SilverStars. They don't seem to be any brighter, just a different color. It is interesting which features get highlighted at different temps.

Those of ya’ll that have the spidertrax 1.25” spacers and run them on the front have you had any issues with wheel bearings or ball joints? I’d like to get me a pair. I believe that the trd wheels will widen the stance by 1” total (half inch each side) but 1.25” is a lot more of a lever on the front knuckle.
Been running Methods with 1.5" spacers up front for 40k miles without issues. If you get good bearings and torque them to spec, they should hold up just fine.

Very much wasn't today, but finally got to a friend's house to use internet since mine's still down....
Got a dumping of 11" of wet snow last Monday and got to go explore/get gas for the generator/pull an old lady out of the ditch. The Geolandars did GREAT and didn't have me worried once. I was super impressed and had fun just plowing through the deep stuff when I needed to get around things
Little glimpse of what a 2-lane (with double yellow), paved road looked like...TONS of trees down all over the place.
Got a dumping of 11" of wet snow last Monday and got to go explore/get gas for the generator/pull an old lady out of the ditch. The Geolandars did GREAT and didn't have me worried once. I was super impressed and had fun just plowing through the deep stuff when I needed to get around things

Ya, previously I had on 285/70 KO2s and only just recently put on the 305s but still haven't had issues.
What load range are you using? I will be bumping up to the 285/70/17 just like you had but am hesitant to go up in load range because the tires get heavy fast and being that i drive 86 miles a day minimum, I don’t want to cut MPG down.

Whats different about the OEM vent caps? Is there a way to modify the ones I have? This seems to be a re-occurring answer to the issue.

It'll be no different than running lower offset wheels. Little more wear, but nothing crazy.

The OEM vent caps weren't the rubber tubes, iirc. They were small plugs with a foam insert. They seem to let things breathe better. I, too, noticed that they helped me out a lot.
The other thing that has kept my headlights mostly fog-free was resealing them with butyl tape. It involves opening the headlights and re-doing the gasket around em, but it does the trick when silicon won't.
Also, as a tip for the future, set up a hairdryer and blow that into the lights to dry them out. Gets the job done a lot faster than a fan. Just make sure it's low heat so that nothing gets melted.
E range on the 285s and 305s. They are heavier for sure but the V8 handles them fine. The lower highway RPM might actually get better mpg haha

Today I finished up my Doug Thorley long tube install! Two exhaust hangers on the catback are misaligned since I had to move it a little, but there are plenty of hangers that will hold it up until I can relocate the two that are misaligned. My only complaint is the interior drone at mid-throttle around 2k rpm. Other than that, sounds great, performs great, and looks even better. According to the (admittedly faulty) computer, I've already gone from 15.0 to 17.5mpg, and that's not while being easy on the throttle pedal!!
My Doug Thorley Y Pipe is on the way (apparently, ordered in October) but isn't here yet, so here's how the V8 sounds with DT Long Tubes, the stock y-pipe, and a MagnaFlow catback.
