What did you do with your 4runner today?

Yes everything works. The Tacoma/Tundra/4runner/Sequoia wheel has all the buttons on the right side that don't do anything in 4th gens but if you're smart enough you can probably hook them up to stuff if you wanted. I should actually look for a blank trim piece to clean mine up a bit.

My v6 4wd has a weird metallic noise over bumps, so I started from the worst case: ball joints. Jacked up on lower control arm, used a long pry bar to see if any ball joint is loose. I literally put a camera behind it to record the movement, and saw absolutely zero play. Great workout for me, but surprised to see ball joints holding up after 15 years 170k miles. At least I won't need to spend $1000+ for brand new lower control arms, yet

You need to be a little electrical savvy to hook the buttons and airbag up but overall easy swap.

Thats 2K clear? Looks too hazy to be. How thick did you lay it on and how many coats? Mine have very little orange peel after 2K clear and they are still perfect to this day.

Yeah I put down 3 wet coats. Will probably wet sand a bit and polish once it cures.

What did you use? I did this a while back but never clearcoated it. I wet sanded using 2000, 3000 grit then the Mothers Powerball polishing kit. I’m looking at Spraymax 2k or Eastwood 2k clear coat.

Yeah my shit was peeling, after a couple of years. So it was def time for a new coat. I worked up to 600 grit then sprayed 3 wet coats. I was working in close quarters so I was def up close and personal to the headlights. Probably why I laid it on so thick.

Got a notification that a local pull-a-part had gotten in a 2004 & a 2006 SR5 and since I broke my passenger taillight recently I figured I would snag them quick. Not quick enough however since it would appear that the two rigs were brought in some time ago and were pretty stripped. However, I have finally reached a point where I am tired of not having a working stereo (a speaker went kaput back in 2019) and as it so happens the 2006 had all four door panels intact so I pulled them open and grabbed some speakers. Grabbed them all plus one spare front from the one remaining door on the 04, got home and swapped in the one I thought was bad and sure enough I had sound! But only in the one so I went through and replaced all four and now the entire stereo works again, oh I am so happy. Also noticed from the OEM speakers in my 08 to the OEM speakers I stripped out of the 06, the 06 had a much better set so this was a cheap upgrade too. No more bluetooth speaker on the dashboard for me. :guitar3:

I repurposed a rubber truck bed mat out of my brothers full-size dodge and made a new cargo liner. He line-x’d his truck and was gonna throw it away. I had made one a while back out of sheet UHMW. The UHMW one was nice, light and strong but stuff slid around too easy. I flipped the rubber mat upside down and all the little knobbies help with that.
