What did you do with your 4runner today?

It was yesterday, but I removed my hood scoop (from 2014 Mustang), welded up the holes, prepped and bed-lined the center of my hood. I didn't realize how much wind noise there was from the hood scoop until it was gone- so much quieter now.

And the bed liner/center paint was on the to do list since I'll be running roof lights once I get a roof rack.

Also replaced my front door speakers with some JBL GTO speakers. My new Jensen HU just arrived on my way out the door for work too!

Replaced my two-year-old Spec-D headlights with TEQ retrofit headlights.
The Spec-D headlights were certainly better than my original headlights, but overall the quality of light was decent at best. Also, after two years the lenses were already clouding and yellowing.

I took advantage of the 15% off Labor Day sale and ordered these lights from TEQ on 03 SEP. I wasn't expecting to have these until December, but I received shipping notification on 06 OCT and they were delivered to me on 12 OCT. Really happy with how they turned out and the lighting performance is excellent.

Jury is out on wind noise. I had some noise before from around the front mirror and door. I'm replacing the outer sill weather strip today which might help. Will post update.

New sill weather strips are in which took care of wind noise from the door area. At "interstate" speeds (not admitting to what I did), I did not hear additional wind noise from the 4 cross bar setup. Maybe if I could test 2 bar and 4 bar back to back, I might be able to hear a difference. The 4 cross bars are staying.

2.5” front from 3rd gen Tacoma springs/struts and uca's. 1.5” rear Bilstein springs. Also one caliper was stuck so I had to replace them as well. Stupid Advanced Auto gave one coated one uncoated (wife picked up). Very annoying but had to have it driving tonight so I ran with it.

Exact same thing happened to me with AutoZone. I questioned it and their reason was "the parts come from different manufacturers." Yeah.

Supposedly one was old stock one was new... They gave me a $20 credit and supposedly are ordering me a new one but already refunded both cores... it's kind of a mess but I only see it saving me more money.

The City Slicker T4R got new to me headlight and wiper stalks. The old ones work but the graphics had worn off. Took out the cheapo Unimotor blower motor and installed a Denso. The air flow is a lot stronger now.

I did some whittling. My rear wiper suddenly began doing its thing up off the glass. Found some great threads here on the fix - shaving down the two little stops at the arm joint - but was away from home at the time so I didn't have a Dremel or anything. Tried the saw blade on the multi-tool I keep in the glove box and whittled them down in 15 minutes or so. Reinstalled the wiper arm and it's fixed.

Better yet, here’s the fix. The problem is that the spring doesn’t hold the arm at the correct angle anymore. This pic of a new arm shows the unmodified condition, where the two parallel stops determine the angle at the hinge:

You can bend the arm “backward” (also handy when changing the blade with the arm on the truck) and just take the top corners off the stops. The other threads I saw seemed to suggest cutting the entire end of the stop, but it doesn’t appear to be necessary and just doing the corners is much easier. Here are a couple of angles after reinstalling it. (To be clear, I took it off to do the trimming.)

The spring can now bring the arm to a sharper angle, putting the blade back in contact with the glass.
