What funny/weird/cool things have people said about your 4Runner?

"I like your Jeep Cherokee"

Does anyone else find it funny when people think 100,000 miles on your 4Runner is a lot?

I posted this on Blcktpgsr's page too, cuz he had a funny Jeep story.

About a week ago, I had a weird Cheech lookalike come up to me and say, "Hey man, I like your Jeep. We should take it up to the Rubicon together."

What bothered me most is that we've never met each other and he thinks we should go the Rubicon together in my JEEP. Oh, and he was driving a beater Honda Civic.

I saw that, that's (and other stories) prompted me to start this thread, I've loved the stories so far! :P

People are always amazed that my rig is 14 years old, and that it has 197000kms on the Odo.... it makes me smile! ;)

"Did you lift your 4runner?"

When I got my front windows tinted, the owner complimented me on it being so clean and in good condition...then he said "that's a damn fine unit right there!"

Thanks partner...

I had someone tell me I had a 'nice 4runner' a few weeks ago...

... in traffic using a bullhorn. That was interesting.

It's worse when they mistake it for a Ford Explorer (which is more closely resembles) IMO... hell it's all bad.

haha after doing my grill mod my buddy said it looked like a trail blazer. Its a good thing he lives far far away.

Then the other day I went to the stealership to get an oil change and one of the other service bay guys went up and started to stare at it for ever. It was like he has never seen a 4runner before.

Cant wait to lift it so I can get face palm when someone calls it a heep

I get the usual jeep thing my 3year old princess even calls it daddys yota but grown men mistake it for a jeep haha, got the jeep wave from a tj the other day and the wife ask what are you laughing at I said its a jeep thing you wouldn't understand.:naughty:

An older gentleman pulled up to me at a stop light the other day and asked if I had been keeping my 4runner in grandma's basement. I told him no, I just try and take care of my autos.

I had another guy at the gas station tell me he'd give me 10K for my 4runner once I told him what it had (4wd, locker, leather). I still have his card. He even like the Autumn Blaze Mica; maybe I should have sold it to him and walked home.

I drove two guys to the airport this one time and they thought my truck was two years old.

Then there was this other time I was at Home Depot and a gentlemen asked me if this was the newest (referring to the 5th gen) model.

There's just something thats unique about the third gen's design that makes them look rather modern despite being a decade old.

i ended up parked next to an f-250 with a massive plate/tube armor front bumper at a convenience store. i crossed his path on my way in/his way out, and we got to talking. he said he "liked my rico ride" and proceeded to tell me he saw a lot of runners in puerto rico.

My neighbor, who also has a 5th gen, swears that my truck is a bigger vehicle than her's (not just taller - it is lifted). After some discussion as to height and how it affects perception, she eventually sat in the passenger seat (I was sure she would see that the cabin was the same size as her's) and she said "see I told you so this has WAY more space!" She then asked "are you sure this isn't a Sequoia?"

Yes my MILFy neighbor - I'm sure it isn't a Sequoia, but please come by to test your suspicions any time you like.
That was a sign you idiot. She wanted to sit on more than your 4Runner.

You know what I would've done. :)

Had someone ask me at stop light, "is that a periscope (looking at my snorkel)?"
My reply, "yep"
Actually this happened more than once.:wtf:

I've had notes left on my Runner asking if I'd sell it (For some pretty crazy numbers. No wonder prices are so high here). Came out from the dog park once to someone taking pics of it, but easily the most weird and random thing was I was driving through a parking lot and was stopped behind another car when a guy sitting outside a Starbucks said, "I bet you can drive over a lot of dead bodies in that thing." I just kinda nodded and drove off. Wasn't sure how to take that.

Me and my friend with his XTerra were at some sand dunes and decided to have a race. We were both in 2wd and we both immediately dug holes in the ground but my 4R turned slightly and threw sand into his open window. There was almost a foot of sand in his floor boards. He had a few things to say about my 4R after that....
:rockthrow:

I just literally got back from lunch where an old man who was in his late 70's to early 80's said, "nice rig" as I got out of my car.
