What funny/weird/cool things have people said about your 4Runner?

was next to a stock ijm sport one day and the wife askes the husband/bf or significant other. what is a hilux surf? isnt that a 4runner? he said yes its a 4runner and said i think that thing is imported from overseas with a us left had drive conversion. i laughed and took off.
 
I've gotten a couple at school.

1- "you should put some running boards on that beast"

2- "why would you want to lift it, it's already lifted?"- I couldn't convince that guy that it the way it came from the factory.

Oh and my grandma gets it mixed up all the time with her 07 pathfinder.
 
While racing one evening, I kicked a dude's ass off the line and down to the finish. He pulls up at the next light and asks "is that a V8!? It sounds mean and it's fast!!!". And I love responding "NOPE! It's a 4L V6."

These trucks are actually quite fast!
 
I've owned my Runner for a little over two years now, and I've had it lifted for about 2 months now. When it was stock, id get a few compliments here and there, but I swear I get compliments on almost a daily basis since I lifted it. 4Runners and 4 wheel drives are popular here in the PNW, so theres a lot more enthusiasts out there. Not just Toyota guys either. The other night I was leaving a bar and a couple guys playing horseshoes told me it was "sick" and a few weeks ago I was leaving a Mexican restaurant and a couple cute younger girls were getting out of their VW next to me and they told me it was "hot."
 
I forgot during the time of "Cash For Clunkers" I pulled into a dealer for some long life coolant. A mechanic comes out to my 4runner and asks me for the keys. I said dude, back the hell away from me. He said your car is on the list to be "clunked". I told him he would be getting it over my dead body and left for the Taco Hell across the street. Five minutes later in walks the mechanic and proceeds to tell me how cool my 4runner is, he loves the 3rd gen, hates the 4th, and makes me an offer on it, even though it was a pretty low ball one at that.

PitBull, the gas station was in a rough section of town and it was a long walk back; similar to being on Lancaster St and hiking it back to Ardmore.
 
Had a service guy tell me one time "Man those suspension parts are nice. Sure can't get anything like that at autozone!"

I agreed, it is a nice setup and no you can't buy the parts at Autozone.


On another note, Im driving back from the beach one weekend and I see a lifted 3rd gen ahead of me. So Im like sweet I gotta catch up and see this thing. Drive up next to it and this cute chick is driving. We chatted for a second while cruising in slow traffic. She was driving a gold one on 5 stars, 2-3" lift. My buddies gave me soo much crap for not asking for her number :redbrick:
 
"Do you still have your Pathfinder?" or "Do you still have your Rodeo?" Jerks!

BTW, installed new Jaos front spoiler and fog lights; 2 dumbs at work told me it looks ridiculous... Bet they don't have enough money or style to put some really nice accessories to their cars.

My boss, telling me I have a lot of Advance Auto Parts stuff in my T4R cause of the ScanGauge I have installed. Guess I should be the boss!

As for cool, I had plenty of compliments. My cousin told me my 4runner looks newer than a 2001. As for weird, I had a short lived relationship with a very ignorant girl. She told me that I had a white boy truck. All I could do after she said that was shake my damn head in digust.

the guy i bought mine from was replacing his 4runner with a CRV, his words exactly "My wife wanted a better car so we got a CRV"...damned idiot, his loss!
 
On a recent camping trip, my wife remarked how my "van" can hold so much stuff.

I corrected her, and I don't get hung up on the whole SUV/truck/car thing... but a van?!
 
The other day a guy asked me if it was a new one. I said it's 10 years old (2002) with 150K miles on it! Then I showed him the scratches from going offroad in the woods.
 
"Are you a storm chaser?" And a personal favorite (after a wheelin trip) "I've seen your truck around town but I like it better dirty" better believe I took that girl out on a date! :D
 
Iv had buddies say "I cant believe you made that trail in a stock 4runner." A girl at the gas station driving a joop cherokee compliment on my rear window. Found out the next year she was my English teacher. She was rad
