What's the best 2-DIN Nav HU?

Ok, I spent the evening install the unit and since I had a Top of the Line Alpine single din with pocket I had to use the stock brackets to install the double din. Using those brackets it puts the square part of the outside of the black part of the AVN flush with the 4runner

Yeah, I think the sound quality is great considering there aren't as many tweakable settings as my Alpine. I agree with jelgas, using the EQ is so much easier than having to tweak the Alpine to get a good quality sound. I spent weeks with the Alpine messing with the sound settings and I could never get it to sound exactly the way I wanted it. With the Eclipse, it sounded very good right out of the box.
 
Update:

Talked with Scosche who makes the part listed on Ebay. Anyway we can order the part directly from your local Wal-mart and they will special order it in... I have one on order through ebay that after two weeks and several phones haven't received yet. So I plan on ordering this from Wal-Mart later this week.
 
Ok, here is the first shot at this. The ring installs right over everything. Just use a small piece of double sided tape and all is golden. I

Jelgas, that looks nice! I have a feeling that wouldn't work very well with the JBL setup, but on yours it looks perfect. With the JBL, there's no inside trim behind the silver front part of the dash. Since the radio sits vertically and the dash has an angle to it, there would still be a gap between the trim piece you made and the opening of the dash when you look at it from the sides.
 
You're right, but I'm sure I can do one for yours. All you need to do is get me the width and height, it would look just as good as mine.

Here are the measurements for my JBL sized radio opening:

Width across the top: 8 1/2"
Width across the bottom: 8 3/4"
Height: 4"

I'm not so sure I could do one for the JBL opening, there just isn't enough left of the opening. I need go look at one in person to see for sure.
 
OK..I found a store online that could cut the trim piece for me.

I downloaded the emachineshop software to design the piece. The software will also provide me a quote on the price of the trim piece.

jelgas, do you have the exact dimensions or template for your trim piece? If you do can you post them here so that I may get a quote from emachineshop?

I had the AVN 5435 Installed the other day at my local Eclipse dealer, along with the Eclipse satellite tuner. Everything works great, and I'm VERY happy with the purchase. Although the Sirius doesn't sound AS good a CD in the unit, the main difference that I notice is that the Sirius has to be turned up higher volume wise than the CD. However, I'm very happy with the sound overall as it is as close to CD quality as you can get, and MUCH more clear than the FM Radio. But I have one question about the Sat Tuner for those of you who have installed it as well. Is there any way to program your favorite Sirius channels into the various bands? I have found how to change them, by changing to a desired channel and then pushing down on the button that I want it saved on. However, every time I turn the car off and come back the next time that I drive, the buttons revert back to the Default Channels 1-6. I cant seem to get then to stay. Is there any special way to get the AVN to remember the channels that I have programmed? Any help would be wonderful, and much appreciated....
 
Here's a quick shot of my attempt to modify my old Scosche single DIN trim kit to fit the AVN 5435. I went a little crazy with the dremel tool so it's not super smooth and clean looking, but it looks better than it did without it. I basically just cut the bottom pocket out and trimmed the top and bottom to fit the Eclipse. The sides get filled in nicely because the kit was made for the JBL opening. There's still about a 1cm gap along the sides of the unit, but it's not too bad.
