What's the best 2-DIN Nav HU?

Your picture shows exactly what I was talking about in the post just before yours...... How did you get the HU to remember those presets that you put in the Sirius? I see that you have Octane and The Pulse along with Sirius Hits programmed. Does that programming stay when you turn off the car for the day or do you have to re-program those stations every time you get in the car? Every time I have changed mine, the system always reverts back to the default Sirius 1-6 stations when I turn off the car and turn it back on the next time I drive. Any help would be useful, at this is the only thing that is frustrating me about the unit.....

To get mine to remember the presets, I just tune it to the station I want, then press and hold one of the preset buttons for about 5 seconds and it stores it on that preset. It doesn't lose memory after I turn it on or off either. I'm thinking maybe your installer didn't hook up the wire that is always connected to power so that it retains its memory when the unit is off? Does it remember your FM presets after you turn it on and off? If it's just a problem with Sirius, it could be the tuner box that's the problem.

Thanks for the help. I went out and gave it a try. I had not yet played with the FM since I really only listen to the Sirius now. Also, the ESN blinker is constantly flashing after the unit is turned off, so the wires must be connected properly I would think. I had the factory radio so the installer told me that the same harness from the old HU plugged right in, as I had read. I just dont understand what the Sirius tuner would have to do with the unit remembering the presets.... I hope that there isn't something wrong with the HU that would make me have to take it back.... everything else seems to be working great. This is just frustrating. Any other Ideas?

Have you had any luck with getting your Sirius to work correctly? I just did a quick test on mine by disconnecting the power to the Sirius tuner box and reconnecting it, and the tuner presets were back to the defaults when I turned the radio on again. I bet the installer hooked the tuner box power wire up to the ACC power instead of the constant power line (directly to the battery). So, everytime you turn off your ignition, it cuts power to the box and loses your presets. That's my best guess.

I see you are interested in an AVN 5435/5495........you can get it for less.....$1560....go to www.tundrasolutions.com and they are having a group buy until Friday April 22....the only catch is you have to be a member (its only $25) much less than the $100's you'll save on this unit.....go to the website and check out the GROUP BUY forum...

Thanks so much for taking the time to do that test for me. I hope you didnt have to go to much trouble to run that test!! Anyways, I haven't gotten the problem fixed as of yet, but judging by your post and the way that my HU is acting I'm sure that the problem that you suggested is actually what is wrong. I'm going to have the installer wire the SIRIUS Tuner directly to the battery rather than the ACC that I'm sure he hooked it up to. Ill let you know If and when the problem is solved. Thanks to threads like this one I want to get Nav for my 4R and I want it bad !!!. I almost got Camry NAV but now after reading this thread I think that this Eclipse AVN 5435 might be even better. However I would like to install it by myself. I've never done it before but there is so much info about Camry NAV installation here that there is no way I couldn't do it. Also Camry NAV is almost "PLUG and PLAY" + connecting few more wires. On the other site there isn't much info about AVN 5435 installation. It might be funny question for some of You but please be understanding and give me some info about how difficult would it be to install it for newbie like me. I

Did you ever get the trim pieces

I ordered those trim pieces from that auction a couple days ago, so when I get them, I'll let you know how they fit. I may end up just cutting up my old dash kit that I had with my alpine and try and fit it in there.

Did you ever get the side trim pieces? Did they work? If not what did you end up doing? Last question where did you put the GPS antenna?

If the trim pieces work it would look better. Its the same trim pieces Eclipse uses in the pictures of the AVN5435 and the AVN5495 in Toyotas.. I wish I had my deck so I could confirm this.

I know the steering wheel controls will plug in but not sure about the speaker wires.. Fujitsu-Ten makes the Eclipse and Toyota decks but I'm not certain the other connections will work.. However I know the steering wheel controls do work..

Well I think that I can answer most of the questions that people are having on this thread. I have the AVN5435 Installed in my '05 Sport Edition (Stock 6 Speaker Stereo) and after 2 weeks I love it more and more each day. It's already saved me several times....whether it was getting where I needed to go in an unfamiliar city or finding the phone number of some destination....the unit is truly AWESOME! Audio wise It's phenominal as well.... I have no complaints. I'm really happy that I didnt throw 8K away to get the Limited Edition with the stock navigation. Anyways, if you have the BASE TOYOTA STEREO the steering wheel controls and the Stereo Harness WILL both plug directly into the back of the headunit. No splicing is necessary The installation is rather painless....the only wires that you have to locate and splice are the speed sensing wire, ground wire, and reverse sensing wire..... and then run the GPS antenna of course. I too had a tough time getting those Scosche Brackets. I ordered them almost two weeks ago off Ebay and I just got them yesterday. Note to anyone: if you buy them off Ebay from Alarms, Etc....... Call them up the day after you order it and remind them of your order. I waited a week, and when I finally gave them a call, they told me that my order had been "lost" in the system. As soon as I complained though, the brackets were in my mailbox around 5 days later. Well I just got done putting them in and I have to say that they fit perfectly if you have the Base Toyota Stereo. I finally have the total "stock" look that I always wanted. It honestly looks like the unit came from the factory now. A picture is below.... it doesn't really do it justice but trust me it looks real nice. Hope this helps...... If you don't have one yet, BUY THIS UNIT! It's a great value and you'll love it!!

Nice review!! Do you have pictures of the setup with the brackets? I thought the 5495 only had the telephone search function? I can't wait for my 5495 to show up should be out in May..
