M&P Shield .40, I can appendix carry in a t-shirt and it doesn't imprint super visibly, even with the extended magazine. I just buy my pants an inch bigger in the waist and it's perfect. The recoil isn't nearly as bad as you would think, with it being a .40 cal. I shot some +P through it and had some problems with malfunctions (Buffalo bore JHP 165 gr, failure to feed/chamber after 1-2 shots). The only thing I added to it was some Trijicon night sights (with tritium), because I didn't like the original sights. I may upgrade the trigger at some point, the reset feels sort of sloppy/late compared to what I'm used to. I have a new full size M&P 9mm and the trigger is a little better, which makes sense because I'd heard they were planning to re-work the triggers across the M&P line.

I would also add that the shield points very naturally and aiming feels slightly more intuitive than other handguns I've tried. I have large hands (usually wear glove size L or XL or size 10/11), and with the extended mag I can still comfortably grip the shield and control its recoil. This is normally a problem for me with compact/subcompacts. I'm not a fan of the Glock 19, or their new subcompact (Glock 43? I think). One issue I have with both my shield and the Glock 19 (which I use at work), is that my firing hand thumb tends to hold the slide lock down, resulting in it not locking to the rear when my magazine is empty. I have to stack my firing hand thumb on the outside of my non-firing hand thumb, which felt sort of awkward at first, but I'm getting used to it now. It only takes a tiny bit of pressure to interfere with the slide lock, so I had to find a new index point.
Also, I always carry an extra magazine in my back pocket. In a self defense situation I'm probably going to dump the entire first magazine into the immediate threat and then reload/assess the situation. But I'm a fan of a more aggressive/violent response than most people seem to be nowadays.

My EDC is a Kimber Micro 380. It's so easy to conceal and is easy to carry appendix without pinching the willy and is light enough that I can carry while wearing athletic shorts (which is the regular 9 month attire around here) without it pulling my pants down.
Now that I have a console vault my XDs 9 lives in the truck and is carried in a holster attached to the front of the drivers seat in the pocket in the Wet Okole seat covers. Spare mags for both are also in the vault.

My EDC is a Glock 19 Gen4. Also, have a Sig P229. Just picked up a Glock 17 Gen4. Adding more Glocks to the collection, along with other toys.
Primary choice is my .45 Shield Performance Center with the fiber sights and apex carry duty trigger kit 6+1
Secondary is my M&P9c with progressive recoil spring and apex carry duty kit 17+1

Thanks man - just takes patience but its a pretty simple undertaking. i don't do any fancy designs or anything but its unreal how much gunsmiths charge for this type of job
