What's your top speed?

I'm using 265/75/16 on SR5 99. When I reach 68 miles, the car feels little bit unstable. I know SUV's are not for racing, but I'm just curious what are the top speeds you guys have reached with a Runner like mine.

Regards,

JJ

i was really late once and i went around 95 but ure right it was really unstable, my hood shakes at times when 70+

When I went out west with our trialer in 2005 my Wife was driving and I notice she was going 80 or so, then a few minutes later I said "OH my, your going 90" and she and I had no idea. Of course there were no cars around, so it is hard to judge speed.

While driving on the Interstate I get it up a little past 90 to pass and it does not seem that unstable to me. Of course I have never tried to go faster than that.

Mine feels really solid at 108 but then the governor kicks in.... and slows me back down to 100...

It might be my tires that help! $1000 but 90,000 miles warranty :)

I took my '97 runner a lil past 110 and then the govenor kicked it and immediatly sent me back to 100. It was the first time I had ever hit a limiter in any vehicle and I seriously thought I had just f'ed up my truck.... but she's still kickin' w/ 160k (its my sisters now)

Only 85 or 90. Feels okay in a straight line, but a bit wobbly in turns. Miss my CBR and S2000 (only when I want to get on it).

I've taken her to just under 100 with the car full of my stuff and the A/C on (on Friday actually, on highway 5 coming back from college for the summer). Felt as solid as ever.

actually i was going a cool 80 today no rough handeling... that one time i was remembering was prolly just a rough rd.

I've gotten my 98 up over 100 multiple times on the interstate. It never felt unsteady to me but the car I had before was a 98 kia sportage so I don't really have a good base to judge it on.

I drive from back and forth from Arizona to California on the 10 a few times a year. I will hit 100 frequently and feel totally safe. No problems or vibrations going that speed.

Now it might be a different story not that I have 1' PP springs on and Dueler Revo tires.....

i dont like to get up to 105 (never have, but i am in the 3 digit club) when u press on the accelerator the RPM rev up past 4K and i dont really like that high... but i went 95-100 on the highway 2 day just for fun... truck feels GREAT!

1996.... 194,573K just checked and going STRONG!

there is a rev limiter that cuts in at 108mph, been there way more than i should have been.... all on private non highway roads of course :biggrin2:

106 in a race with mustang 7:10pm during traffic hour down 75! scary but fun as hell, but ive taken it to 100 plenty of times

Just about every day Im over 80+

I live at the start of a FRWY and I can go as fast as I want when Im on my way home. Im usually doing 85 or so.

I was up near Fresno and was doing 90+ and still had people on my ass and my 4cyl 2wd did GREAT.
I still had alot more power to go faster!! (but I didnt want that EXHIBITION OF SPEED TICKET FOR 20+ speed limit)

I LOVE MY 4RUNNER :driving:

Let's just say that I know someone who once drove a full hour with the cruise locked at 100 MPH, and it was as smooth a ride as my Avalon. This was a stock Sport model with the 4.10's and decent tires, and the ride (I76 east of Denver) was very stable, no wander or float. You'd be crazy to try this with a Blazer or Cherokee or Exploder.

My friend has a Grand Cherokee with the inline 4.0L. Honestly greeat engines and it hauls a$$. But it seems to have such a squishy soft suspension. At 80 it rocks back and forth make me a little nervous.
