When will the Bilstein 6112 be released?

Why not offset the lean with the ring setting as I've seen some on the TRD pro series.

Good question!
Doing it like that you could be chasing lean as the height per circlip grooves are different between the 6112's and the TRD Pro Suspensions....

With the TP14 1/4" plate you can get 1/2"
With the TP14 Faced to 1/8" you can get 1/4"

I called

AFTERMARKET & MOTORSPORTS HEADQUARTERS - WEST
ThyssenKrupp Bilstein of America
92064 Poway
United States
Tel.: +1-800-537-1085

today (3-25-15) and spoke with the Tech dept, according to Mike@ Bilstein, they're talking with letzrace & '15WeissRhino and they are inquiring about the installs and the reported issues.
I was informed they will be installing some 6112's on employees T4R's @ different height settings to see what is going on and will be informing the letzrace &'15WeissRhino what they find.
They will be taking before and after measurements to confirm heights obtained.
They also said they will try to have information within the week.

I was also given a direct line to call the tech prior to my install.

One thing was mentioned about not fully tightening the lower shock mount bolt/nut until after the truck was back on the ground. (This is also mentioned in the repair manual)

EDIT: I couldn't remember the term used by Bilstein so I called. If the suspension is hanging in the air and the lower shock mount bolt is torqued in that position, they refer to it as "Rotational Torque or Torque Windup".

Exactly what Saker said, the guys(Mike and his team) at Bilstein are going to try and get some data for us.

I took mine in for the alignment yesterday. The right side lost 1/8" of height and the left side gained 1/8" height. This was with the lower shock mount bolt torqued with the 4runner on the ground. I'm very happy with the ride and handling. The bumps are much less noticeable.

Going to order the 5160's now:)

Just ordered my 6112 from Total Automotive Performance today so can't wait to get them and hopefully by then there will be a little more info on the actual height change people are seeing...

The 5160 setup is lookin' good, and I'm really looking forward to your install!

And Zeus ..Hope everyone is feeling better real soon, also!

BTW, how much lift are you gents looking for, and where are you planning to install your circlips? Do you have any lean stock, and if so, how do you plan to correct it?

Thanks in advance for the info ..

Thanks for the kind words. Back/neck cracked to about 85% normal. Still tired as hell from being up most of the last 120 hrs.

I'm looking for 2.5" lift front just like the 5100s on her FJ at the highest setting. With what's been posted, think I'll try three up from bottom and see where that gets me.

No lean stock, but have 1/4" Toytec spacer for front, and OME rear trim packer on the way.

Hope "Momma" is doing fine and hope you get better as well!
Can hardly wait until we get the results from your install!

Thank you as well. Hopefully I'll be able to use the method we discussed if I have to make any adjustments.

We'll it has been a very long night. I've started on my install in my garage by myself with the help of the TIS repair manuel.

Managed to get the 6112 installed. The Xreas is a pain in the ass to get out. Got the front lines out but still need to get the back lines out when i do the 5160s. I disconnected the lines at the check valve so I only lost a couple drops.

I'll also post pics up later and described how i did the install for future reference.

I took very good measurements so I'll post what i get after. I put mine at the #4 so we'll see what that gets me. Since the fender is curved, I also marked the measuring spot with masking tape so i when i measure the after lift, I will have the same point of reference. Since the wheels are tucked in a little, I used level from the face of the hub so that my measuring tape was pretty perpendicular.

Tomorrow morning I'll tackle the 5160. I don't anticipate it taking nearly as long as the 6112.

Just wondering what the height of the OEM Front Coil is?

Do you guys notice that the prototype on Chas setup, the coil either seems longer or sits lower on the body? I would think that if his was a prototype / test vehicle for our application, they should have been a similar setup measurement minus the threaded body.

That setup is on a Tundra, 1st Gen, if my memory serves me correctly.

At the alignment shop now. I left my front coil on the strut so I don't have a measurement uncompressed.

Ill post lift measurements after alignment. I took some quick measurements and its looking like the 6112 and the rear (5160 w SAW 1.5) is higher.

On a side note, I've got major rubbing in the front (285/70) near full lock. I pushed the liner in but its still hitting this plastic square piece that's attached to the liner. Thinking about just takin the whole front liner portion out.

So I understand this correctly, you put the front on position number four (Second highest) and it is still lower than the rear, correct?

I just did the rear... about to do the front.

Sold my OEM fronts several days ago and unfortunately didn't get a measurement. Had a thought about this last night. If the 6112's are very similar to the ones on the TRD Pro, isn't the TRD Pro about 1 inch higher in the front than a standard 4Runner? If that's the case, the .5" Bilstein setting giving approximately 1.5" on a standard 4Runner would make sense. Just a wild guess.

Yup. Still have a little rake. The SAW coil and the 5160 combo gave me like 3" of lift. I'll post exact numbers in a bit.

No need too, do the inner fender mod then take a heat gun and heat all of the raised areas. They'll actually shrink when you apply heat as the plastic is really thin, just work from the bottom upward. Take your time, heat, turn wheel inward to check clearance, if not enough, heat some more. By time you get done it'll look like they came from the factory that way :becky:

Yes, I'm a little confused as I went from 37" passenger rear to almost 41" after 5160s and 1.5" spacers! :crazy:o

Also, what did you get in the front. I stopped for dinner before going 4th position for the front. Don't want more than additional 2.5" in front as ride goes to hell.

6112 and 5160 with SAW installed!

Okay so here are the final numbers (measured from center of hub to fender. I marked it with green tape so I had the same reference point).

Before
Driver Front: 19.5" Passenger Front: 19.5"
Driver Rear: 21.5 Passenger Rear: 21.5

After
Driver Front: 22" Passenger Front: 22"
Driver Rear: 24" Passenger Rear: 24"

Front (Bilstein 6112)
I set at the circlip to #4 which should have given me 2.0" lift but I ended up with 2.5" (+0.5" difference). I was wanting 2.5" so it worked out perfect. I was anticipating it being higher than the advertised so I didn't put it at the #5 groove.

Rear (Bilstein 5160 w/ SAW 1.5" Coil)
I ended up with 2.5" lift (+1.0" difference). That may be due to the stiffer 5160 shocks.

Overall, I am very pleased with the stance. I'll report on the handling later. Interested to see if I'll notice the Xreas being gone.

I gotta work on the fender mod to get ride of the rubbing. Driving me crazy.

I'll post more pics later. I ended up mounting the 5160 reservoir upside down. You can't see the reservoir with the wheels mounted unless you're under the vehicle so i mounted them the way the line naturally oriented them.

Turned out great IMO!
