When will the Bilstein 6112 be released?

I'm finally feeling dialed in with my 6112/5160 setup on my '15 TEP. All my parts came in at separate times and I installed them as they came in.

In First, the 6112's on the second clip. I went from 34" both sides to 35.5" and it eventually settled a bit to about 35.25". BTW- the truck's ass end felt really squishy and un-balanced without the 5160's installed. I was not initially impressed with the 6112 and factory rear shock/spring.

The ride height change was barely noticeable and I wasn't really feeling how the ass end sagged with any kind of weight.

Next, Cooper AT3 255/75/17's and debated between 1" or 1.5" spacer or 2" spring.

Next, installed the 5160's. What a difference in ride quality. Finally a balanced suspension. As documented, a minimal to no change in ride height.

After setting it up on the lift and figuring out how often I'll be driving with my trunk loaded (trailer hitch bike rack and bike, dog, work gear, fishing gear, etc) I decided to go for the springs. Much thanks to CSix and letzrace for their recommendations. I was pretty set on the 3rd clip in the front gaining only 2", but I was nervous to go with such a forward rake. That said I really wanted to see how the springs could improve the ride over factory and spacers.

So, springs installed and 6112's changed to 3rd clip...

After about a week riding around with a loaded down trunk, the springs have settled some and I'm now at 36" front and about 38 1/2" in the rear. The ride quality with springs is great and I'm very happy going that route.

If you are looking for a more leveled look and wanting to stay under 3", I would recommend the 4th clip in the front and the 2" springs. I may do this in the future, but I need to research a bit more on how that will affect the KDSS. I'm hearing multiple opinions on that.

Sorry for the ramble. Cheers!

PS...thanks for all the tutorials, setup recommendations and suggestions on here. I basically incorporated all of them in some form or fashion.

MTTYDIRT -

Thank you for the review. I think this is what I'm looking for to trade up my 5100's to 6112's. If I am reading this correctly you can set the 6112's to an approx. 1 in lift. I'm just looking to level off the 4runner and want to keep it as close to stock height as possible.

5Sport, I think you'll find the 2nd clip will get you around 1-1.25 and the 3rd clip will get you 2" which is basically level.

For those who have done the installs themselves. I am trying not to reuse any of my original strut components. So I ordered all new parts using the OEM list mentioned earlier in this thread. However, it appears to be missing one component.

From pictures I have seen of the OEM strut there is a bushing that sits on the shock's shaft that is supposed to act as a secondary cushion in the event the shock bottoms out. I believe its part#13 in this diagram:

Can anyone confirm this? Did you guys just transfer it to your 6112 setup? Thanks in advance.

So what are people doing to install these 6112 short of using a spring compressor?

I tried to different sets of quality spring compressors to assemble them but just couldn't get it and had to take into a shop to be done on wall mount strut compressor.

I'm looking 2 days later and it looks like the price jumped to $608.80 on Amazon. Guess I should have pulled the trigger..... unless I'm missing something.

Haha, yeah I see an ad for it right now on this page. When I first looked at them they were $492, then when I put them in my cart it went up to $554. Even now Amazon is still by far the cheapest. Luckily I got a set of another forum member for even less.

why did you add this in? I thought one needed longer bumpstops for extended travel setups???

All I was doing there was clarifying what part #13 was in post #444 as described for Xtremluck.
That's it, he was a little confused as to that part.... :wink2:

Amazon price changes daily on the 6112 and ranges from 550-740 depending on their stock. We will beat Amazon prices, just PM us. You can talk to a live person about any questions you may have.

We helped develop the system, we introduced it to the forum, and we stock them! We beat Amazon and ebay daily on performance part prices and turn around time. Not only that, but we offer tech support, and in the off chance you have an issue we will handle the warranty. Amazon is great, but we can offer more! :reddance:

have a good weekend everyone.

Here is how you guys can install these with no spring compressor needed. Install can be done in driveway. Be careful.
