When will the Bilstein 6112 be released?

I went ahead and bought the 6112's before I even took delivery of my 4R and now after a few miles I'm thinking the stock springs are plenty stiff for my liking. I may be returning for some 5100's I want a nice highway ride from this rig.

IIRC, the coils that are paired with the 6112's for the T4R are Eibach 620's.

I started the install of my 6112/5160's tonight and I definitely learned a thing or two.

First of all, the KDSS makes the install more difficult because you CAN'T use the "no spring compressor" method. I gave it a shot, but theres no way the LCA can swing far enough down to release the pressure on the spring with the KDSS still attached. I tried both on the left and right side, and I tried compressing the KDSS piston with a floor jack and no luck.

Second thing I learned (I already knew it) is Harbor Freight tools are junk. I bought the spring compressor from there and right as I got the nut off the top hat......BOING the spring compressor broke and pieces went flying. No injuries other than a small scrape on my calf caused by part of the compressor flying by. :faint:

Tomorrow I'll take the 6112s and the top hats to a shop to have them assembled. I'll post pics once I get it all finished.

Glad you're ok. I found the same thing with mine not being able to use the no compressor technique. What clip setting are you planning on going with? I'm at the 3rd clip and have a bit more rake than I anticipated. Don't know if it's worth the hassle but I'll try to move it up one more notch if I can find a way to do so without taking the thing off the runner.

Thanks. I was planning on doing the 3rd clip too but now you have me thinking about going for the 4th. I'm going to do a 1.5" spacer in the rear but was planning on getting some Icon springs in the near future. Yours does look a little more raked than CSix . Did you get a full 2" of lift in the front?

To be honest I didn't measure the car pre-lift. I'll try to get post lift measurements when I get home from work today, I just wanted to get the install over with lol. Just eyeballing it doesn't look like a full 2 in in the front.

Ended up stripping one of the KDSS bolts out while trying to figure a few things out and isn't sitting quite flush the way it was. Don't know how I'll fix that yet.

Ah man that sucks. As long as you just stripped the bolt and not the LCA then it should be a quick fix.

99% sure that is correct. We will double check with Bilstein.

I finished the lift today and I'm sure will be sore tomorrow. To recap 6112 3rd clip and 5160s with 1.5" spacers. Given all the numbers Ive read in this forum it seems like I had one of the shortest 15 TEP runners around.. Soooo that means my lift will have exaggerated numbers. One other strange thing I ran into; my 5160 came with a frame mount for the reservoirs but the frame doesnt have a threaded hole so I called Bilstein and theyre looking into it.

Before: Frame: F13.00 R13.9 /// Fenders: F34.00 R36.70
After: Frame: F15.6 R15.8 /// Fenders: F36.9 R38.3

One quick pic. Will update with a better one tomorrow.

Hope this helps!

Look closely forward of rear shock mounting on the frame. There should be one hole with threaded backnut. The kit will utilize a "L" shaped bolt for the lower mount.
See photo for location....

I appreciate the picture. When I called Bilstein they asked about the holes near the sway bar end-links and I wasnt sure what to tell them since I have KDSS

Take a look at what mine looks like.

Looks like you have no choice but to get a set of the aluminum mounting clamps. [emoji2]

carrera0to60,

I am in disbelief and stand corrected, sir!
Why would there not be a backnut there?

Wondering if you could put a Rivnut there!!!!!

or

I am wondering if Bilstein has another kit they can supply you with that will remedy your situation.
I don't think they will send you the clamps at no charge, maybe you can talk them down a few $$$ and have the overnight them!

Anyone have their truck setup on the 3rd clip (2") and 2" icon springs in the rear? I'd love to see some pictures.

Also, anyone experience any settling with the 2" springs? I'm debating between 1.5 spacer or 2" springs. I have both sitting at my house...just need to decide.

Cheers!

Here is my truck with the 6112's set on the 3rd clip and rear Icon 2" lift springs. This resulted in a front lift of 2.125" and 2.5" rear, measured after putting 350 miles on this set up. The only settling I've measured is the passenger rear settled .25". I do have a slight "Toyota lean" with the driver's side .125-.25" lower. I'm good with the final result, definitely prefer the ride over stock, and don't mind the rake since I typically carry 150 lbs in the back. It took a long time to figure out what I wanted/needed, and I'm pleased with how it all ended up.

BEFORE and AFTER pix (note that the parking lot is slightly angled, lower on the left and higher on the right in these shots):

Ran into another problem today:frusty:

I took it to the alignment shop and they had it for about 4 hours. When I picked it up I asked for the spec sheet and everything looked good and "in the green" but they said it took them forever to do and was PITA.

About a mile down the road I could tell that it was pulling to the right so I turned around and went back to the shop and told them that the steering wheel was angled to the right and it was pulling to the right. I encouraged the guy to drive it, so he could see what I was talking about. I got a call about 2 hours later saying that they were stumped and to bring it back in a couple days when their tech is back to work on it some more. They were trying to tell me that the rear axle was moving and that the thrust angle was changing. I've heard of stranger things happening so I went with it. They asked what I had loosened on the rear and wanted to check the tightness of everything.

So I got home and laid underneath with a flashlight and I saw this. Its the drivers side toe adjustment cam. As it sits right now, the cam is sitting on top of the tab and bending it outwards. I'm not sure what my plan is from here but needless to say Im angry and annoyed. Obviously with the toe cam out of its "groove" all bets are off.
