When will the Bilstein 6112 be released?

Wow, they damaged your vehicle and it's not an "easy fix" for the average alignment shop! I'd insist that they pay for repair by someone of your choosing who can weld on Total Chaos Lower Control Arm Cam Tab Gussets Part # 59860-10FJ... which takes a little skill to install correctly.

TOTAL CHAOS FABRICATION

I got a call back from the product manager at Bilstein. He said they went and checked out a few 2016 TE runners both w/ and wo/ KDSS and they have the threaded hole in the frame. So apparently mine was made on Friday afternoon.

I mentioned that I would like them to send me the nice shiny aluminum mounts so that I can piggyback the reservoir, but he said that they tested it, and under full compression something comes in contact with it and rips it off. He said they do not recommend that setup....... I know, I know! Don't shoot the messenger! So they're sending me some hardware to attempt to mount it to the frame.

That's strange on the threaded frame issue, hate to hear that.

Are you talking about the same Bilstein Clamps shown on their website and pictured?
Bilstein, Innovation and High Quality Since 1873

Bilstein actually stated "they tested it, and under full compression something comes in contact with it and rips it off" ?

Sure, I could understand if they were not mounted correctly, but really!
This is the first I've heard of this.......

TotalAutomotiveLV or Zeusmotorworks ..... have you heard this before?
Feedback please.

Yep, those are the ones. That's what he said, I was annoyed to hear it too since I was planning on getting the clamps regardless if the were going to give them to me for free or not. It does make sense though, only based on the fact that they don't supply the cheap piggyback mounting hardware in the first place.

I have not heard of this. However, just had to put some "sleeves" on the Wife's as the lines were rubbing and abrading the sway bar. Unlike the Icons on my FJ, there is nothing to locate the assemblies to keep them from turning.

I'll also add that I wish there were a better or more appropriately valved rear shock that more closely matched the 6112s. People can say what they will, but these shocks significantly lag behind the front.

I see your point. Nothing but shear friction between the bushing and frame to keep the shock from turning.
The 5160's only have 8.7" of total travel and I think I have had mine compressed to the bump stops and don't recall hearing of feeling any abnormalities when flexed.
Last time I looked at mine, I did not noticed them moving, but, with that being said, I'll look at mine tonight when I get home to see if I have any signs of turning or any contact of components.

Have you had any dialog with Bilstein on this subject?
I understand they can re-valve these!

Know that, but have not... we are so happy with the front that I'm not sure the rear has enough piston area to deliver what we are looking for. On the flipside, she's pretty stock. With bumper and armor, I may very well have to have the front revalved as well. Hers is more of an "urban assault" vehicle so adding much to it is not of the highest priority for her.

FWIW, I just looked and found the following.
My 5160's have not rotated, still oriented properly.
I did find a slight point of contact between emerg brake line housing and very bottom of both shocks. Nothing major, but it has made contact, so I will adjust accordingly.

Thanks for the picture. I think you'll be just fine if you raise it up a touch like you said.

Can't trust anyone these days. Alignment cams were screwed up by the shop, gonna be a fun one trying to get them to pay for damages. uploadfromtaptalk1456541313737.jpguploadfromtaptalk1456541331091.jpg

So I did a little relocating of my reservoirs today so they would clear the emergency brake cable housing at full flex without making contact
I moved them up approximately 1.5" and rotated them outward slightly for clearance of the frame.....

Looks like they're just upside-down? I don't see any damage I don't think.
Hard to see but the second pic has the bolt shifted to the right and seems to have crushed the backing plate on the right side. It no longer nests between the two lips. My guys says that it won't stay in alignment until I replace those plates. Don't know much about alignments or their components but made sense the way he explained it to me.

Don't mean to thread jack, last post I promise. I'll go find an appropriate place to post and figure this out.[emoji41]

I just read that, great article. What I don't understand, is why the 5160 vs regular 5100? Seems to me the remote resi is really intended for highspeed, desert type racing, not normal speed overland travel.

The 5160's are better matched with the 6112's than the 5100's.
Actually, when you look up the application on Bilstein's site, you will see the 6112 & 5160 are the matched replacement.
From what I've read here, the 5100's ride is harsher due to valving/design than the 5160's.

Great article! Definitely helps me justify the slightly higher price than the 5100s. I also noticed in the article that he mentioned his frame wasnt threaded for the remote reservoir bracket (sounds familiar). I forwarded it along to Bilstein for their reading enjoyment and to poke them again about my issue.

I wonder if your situation could be remedied about them just including two more L shaped bolts to go in the non-threaded holes on your frame.
