Which stock rim would give me the best offset to get rid of spidertrax?

Look for wheels off of an FJ. They all have about 4.5" of backspacing. Also, 1st gen Tacoma wheels have about 4.5" IIRC.

Yes, I don't like using spacers either. I know plenty of people run them with success. But it's an added cost, an added point of failure, and another thing to consider. Service shops don't like them either.

One other set of factory wheels that nobody has mentioned that give a nice offset (8.5" width with 15mm offset) is the XSP wheels. I'm selling a set, see sig. They will sit almost identical to the outer fender as a stock 17x7.5 sport wheel with 1.25" spacer (within 4mm).

For reference, here is a pic of another member's car with these wheels and 275/55/20 KO2 all-terrains:

20's..... Just kidding around, if thats what you like then thats all good. I prefer more sidewall for off roading. I think 20's are geared more towards the streets...

All joking aside I am curious what the cost of 20 inch tires are. My impression is the bigger the rim the bigger the price tag. How much these KO2's cost new?

Ultimate wheel decision?

Hi, I'm curious what you ultimately went with. I have an 06 with gunmetal FJ 10 hole, 17" OEM wheels (15mm+ offset so 15mm further out than stock sport wheels). If I read correctly, the pics you posted (with Duratracs) are of your sport wheels (+30mm offset) with 1.25" Spidertrax adapters? seems like a good stance but I can't see how far wheels protrude. If I'm doing my math right, the outside of your tires sould be very slightly (5-10mm?) out past the flares. Is that correct? I have the orig 17" sport spare wheel and want matching full size so either going with a 5th FJ wheel/285/70-17 or dumping the FJ wheels for 4 more OEM sport wheels and 1.25" adapters. Anyhow, curious what you ended up doing and if you care to share pics. Thanks!

Just go LT for some poke without adapters
