WhiteKnight Build - (Smallfry's rebuild)

Well, my time living in Wyoming is over and I'm now back in Utah (North Ogden) for the time being.

The good thing about being back is that I now have my own garage. No more working out in the cold on my 4runner. Woot! :jump:

Played around with a 2014 Toyota 4runner SR5 today at the Utah Auto Expo and you know what I still prefer my 12 year old, 191xxx mile 3rd gen 4runner over it.
 
Changed out the inner tie rods last night and some how in the process managed to screw up the drivers side outer tie rod so that got replaced too. I was a little apprehensive about doing it at first but it was a lot easier that I thought. Just a bit of pain getting the inners off.

Ya, I know. I do a lot of solo trips so I more or less end up documenting the areas I visit than what I do my 4runner.
 
Just like felt like posting a photo. Despite some of issues I've had with my 4runner I'm still in love with her.




I would also like to introduce 'Secret Squirrel' or 'Red Baron' not quite sure what to call her yet.



I've been looking at a second car for quite awhile FJ40, Subaru Outback, Subaru Foresters, 90-93 All-Trac Celica (hard to find) and various Toyota and Honda models. Primarily as a back-up vehicle and daily commuter in case I do something stupid to my 4runner :bounce: while out and about. I didn't want to have a car payment, wanted to be able to pay cash for it and wanted to keep my insurance cheap. I came across this awhile ago and been back forth on it since it needs some work and has 208,xxx miles on it but I decided to go for it.

Its an 2001 Toyota Corolla S with a 5 spd manual (the only way to get a car) and like I said 208,xxx miles. It's still riding on the stock suspension which is completely shot and has a few exterior comestic issues all which are being addressed in the next two weeks. Interior is still in great shape just needs good a cleaning. She may not be the quickest or and best handling thing out there but she'll serve her purpose.

Ran out to the Little Sahara sand dune area just outside of Eureka, Utah with the Wasatch Cruisers Landcruiser group. Didn't take many photo's since we broke off into (2) groups and were having fun just trying the traverse the dunes.

Going down some of the dunes if I still had the fat lip bumper it would've been torn off and 3-wheeling it's a little unnerving in the sand. Put my 4runner though her paces today and she did good, just need to air down a little more next time.

Wheeling in the sand is differently different than wheeling in the rocks and dirt.
 
Box Rocket has such a badass Tacoma, and your wheels really help set yours apart from the crowd. In a good way! Thanks for sharing.
 
No updates, just using my 4runner as I built her for.

After having the rear tire carrier for almost a year know I kind of find having it to be more of pain having to swing it open to get into back of the 4runner or just trying to get the rear tire off of it (probable given myself a hernia from being a light weight).

Thinking about having the bumper modified so I can put the spare back underneath and having a different swing arm built to accommodate a couple of gas/water cans instead that way I can remove it when not needed.

Or maybe see if CBI or Shrockworks could build me a different bumper and just sell the one I currently have.

Granted I'd loose the cool factor of having the tire on the back but I'd just think it be more functional for me.

In no rush got few months to think about it since I'll be back in Colorado working and the 4runner will be in storage.

We're always here, and it would only make since that your rear bumper match your front:thumb3:

My fiance spends most of her time running around in the 4runner and loading/unloading the hatch. After almost two years I haven't heard a single complaint from her 115lb frame, minus one of the neighbor kids unlatching the swing out and it swinging open and wiping out someone's mail box. We decided to start locking the latch after that, lol.

What?! You're coming back to Colorado and putting your 4Runner in storage?! That sounds like a sin of some sort! ;-)

Probably but I have no choice in the matter. I have a company vehicle and I'm hoteling it while I'm out here.

I bummed about it cause I'm limited with what I can do with a company vehicle.
 
Trying to decided if I'm going to replace all the interior panels and seat covers with new or try to find used parts (most I've found have been beat to crap).
