Why no 4X4 badging?

When people see my modded, lifted rig going down the road it's pretty frickin' obvious it's a 4x4. I removed all that badging crap on my Tacoma, preferring a cleaner look. Glad it's not on the runner. To each their own tho.
It's the fords that are so classic with their "Fx4". Wtf's up with that?

I personally don't mind it not coming with the badge. I think its a cleaner look as well since I'm with the less=more crowd. I do wonder why toyota never made one for this gen like the past gens.

4x4 Badges are cool. I got the decal from the Toyota '83 4x4 pickup, since a yellow '83 4x4 truck was the first truck I lusted after at age 14 living in Idaho!

None of us work in Toyota's design or marketing departments though so we don't know why. The average person I know sees it's a big ass truck and just assumes it's a 4x4. The whole 4x4 badging has been so diluted because of all the AWD CUVs that have it anyhow. If the title had been "where can I get a 4x4 badge" or something the answers probably would've been a lot different. I think a little 4x4 badge on the c pillar would probably look ok but it isn't something I'd do on mine just like I won't put a TRD Off Road decal on it.

I don't visit other forums on regular basis so I'm just curious what's the most welcoming forum?

And to be on topic I can say that I always thought that there is no needed for the badge in Canada because we don't have 2wd 4Runners here. But I think that Toyota could have easily charged my fellow US 4Runner owners extra $50 for the badge so 2WD users will see it and think about upgrading their T4Rs.

I would say the most welcoming would be the Camaro and Corvette forums. I have seen people routinely go out of their way to welcome new members and be hospitable over most things. You can guess that personalization on sports cars is typically more extreme than with SUV's and yet no matter how "tacky" the modification people are still treated with respect and complimented. People see the level of passion or work that goes into the vehicle and appreciate another enthusiast. The negative comments aren't really tolerated beyond, "not my taste."

I love my 4Runner, but beyond looking a pics on here or waiting for more info. about the 2014 it's hard to have much dialogue because there is no grey area.

In terms of the badging, I don't know the answer but it doesn't seem uncommon on a model offering both 2WD and 4WD to differentiate visually with a badge for the 4x4...

And this diamond 4x4 pin jewelry thing is another. For me, it's a MUST HAVE fashion accessory that would go well with formal wear as well as with the typical off road garb worn by the most experienced and skilled drivers.

Perhaps the source of this magnificent item could be shared, because with one of these pins we could all be perhaps better people.

and that being said I don't want ANYONE to feel they can't ask a question for fear of being ridiculed or intimidated....many, many folks here have gone out of there way to help other forum members, at many times to their own personal cost.....all the while in the name of shared interest in a product....I think that's pretty cool....and I'm very thankful for the good folks I've met here....and I looking forward to meeting those I haven't yet. I think what we share here is exceptional, Iv'e been involved in forums for the last 8 years and have never seen so many folks get along (...go on picnics?....go wheeling??...GO CAMPING???) We do have a few that need medication, and are in denile, and may suffer from a drinking problems, but outside of that were a regular bunch...

I hang out a lot on Mud, and have a lot of fun there, but this place is like Romper Room compared to there....I guess it's not for the faint of heart...lol

I do appreciate what [MENTION=14293]jayhawk[/MENTION]5 is saying, and I also admit that occasionally the fun may get out of hand...but I've never felt that I couldn't ask a question...(and I've seen a ton of missed opportunities when someone let loose with a real doozie) and hey, if it was that stupid that I should've been donkey punched... I deserved it!
