Why no 4X4 badging?

You have your opinions, I have mine. My opinions regarding you are:

1- You take this way too seriously.
2- You complain about a lot of stuff- at least on this forum.
3- You think people are wrong for not agreeing with your views.
4- Us old guys are starting to not like you all that much (I'm sure you'll lose sleep over that, right?)
5- I can't believe I wasted my time typing this.

:bored:

1. I'm not going into threads you've started and trolling, I haven't reported posts to moderators and cried that they ban people, I've simply stated the negativity you guys bring to this forum takes away from the forum.
2. I've posted my opinions about some stuff that Toyota has taken away only to turn around and five back as a midcycle refresh and how I felt that was cheap marketing. Some of you guys eat up anything your given and you have that right. The only other thing I have really complained about is the pervasive attitude of some of you old timers who like to rip on the brand new members over little stuff.
3. If by thinking people are wrong who don't agree with my views translates to thinking people who are rude for no reason are a detriment to the forum, guilty as charged.
4. Man the list of things I care more about couldn't be larger.
5. I can't believe you waste your time posting a lot of things.

Ouch. I'm hurt. Again. My post about the jewelry was just trying to have some fun with Antman and Pat and anybody else who might treat this whole thing lightly. Geepers.

Damn. That #5 really got me.:yield:

and that being said I don't want ANYONE to feel they can't ask a question for fear of being ridiculed or intimidated....many, many folks here have gone out of there way to help other forum members, at many times to their own personal cost.....all the while in the name of shared interest in a product....I think that's pretty cool....and I'm very thankful for the good folks I've met here....and I looking forward to meeting those I haven't yet. I think what we share here is exceptional, Iv'e been involved in forums for the last 8 years and have never seen so many folks get along (...go on picnics?....go wheeling??...GO CAMPING???) We do have a few that need medication, and are in denile, and may suffer from a drinking problems, but outside of that were a regular bunch...

I hang out a lot on Mud, and have a lot of fun there, but this place is like Romper Room compared to there....I guess it's not for the faint of heart...lol

I do appreciate what jayhawk5 is saying, and I also admit that occasionally the fun may get out of hand...but I've never felt that I couldn't ask a question...(and I've seen a ton of missed opportunities when someone let loose with a real doozie) and hey, if it was that stupid that I should've been donkey punched... I deserved it!

p.s. Memberships to the Kool Kids Klub can be purchased for $25 a year...checks payable to Antman....

I don't know the opinion of the OP, but if someone came here and posted something simple like this and instantly get 5 posts of people making fun of them for asking or making fun of the question I could see the person feeling put off. The person might be like jesus if this is the response I get everytime I post something I've got better stuff to do. If that happens to a lot of people it makes the forum less than it could be.

It's strange because I have seen some posts that in my head I thought were fuel for ridicule, and people are super helpful and no one says anything.

In this instance I felt for the OP because a person at my work drives a 3rd Gen that has the 4x4 and I wondered the same thing, another co-worker just bought a 5th gen and it took walking up the vehicle and looking in the window to determine if they have picked up a 4x2 or a 4x4. Obviously they felt there was a reason for not continuing the badge, but I honestly couldn't tell you what made them stop?

P.S.- I stand behind my "work" on this forum. Look around.

What have you contributed so far except crap like this?

Your "work," I get paid for my "work." This forum is supposed to be "fun", a place for people who drive 4Runners to come together to discuss a shared interest and share knowledge...

My guess is if you met the OP in person and they asked your response would be a lot different.

You are a genius.

I put work in quotes for that reason. Documenting Mods is fun but takes a lot of work. You probably don't know that because you haven't done it.

The Oil Change How To -for example- took me 3 hrs to complete and the ONLY reason I did it was because other people could benefit from it.

It was a lot more fun before you got here, bud. I'm done with you.

Perhaps you're having trouble telling the difference between making fun of and having a little fun.

In this instance I felt for the OP

The OP, just like anyone else who posts on this or any other forum, is quite capable of speaking for himself. It's not like we're on an elementary school playground and a bigger kid knocked him down and took the ball away from him. Who knows, he may have posted the bling badge picture himself and said "maybe I need to get me one of these!".

I just read the OP as well as the 5 comments and honestly don't see it your way at all. The original question, I think, was more a conversation starter as opposed to 'how do you do X' since there really is no answer as to why there is no 4x4 badge.

As one of the 'higher post / old guys here' I am really sorry you feel that way but sometimes people just need to decide not be offended by the silliest of issues. To be fair I have not really followed your past posts to know if you had a major blow up with other members but this thread seemed innocent enough until....well, you know.

Its a good thing I'm on vacation. Jayhawk5G has a chip on his shoulder and feels entitled to everything. I have read most of his posts so I have a good idea. He trashes us old guys but how much help has he given? None. I have spent hours some nights to figure some problems out I get from members on pm. Antman, Harper, Pat, Dave and others go the extra mile. What do you do? Oh that's right, you take and take some more.

I'm a old timer and I'm here to share my opinion dagnabbit!

I like badges, I like most all badges that came from the OEM, I do prefer 4wd versus 4x4 but that's just me

I also like when people remove all the badges, I think that looks pretty cool too

So in conclusion both ways look really good and id be fine with either =)

You know, maybe it's not such a bad idea if some people feel driven away by this forum... would probably make it a nicer place for all of the others who put in the effort for the community good and can take a joke.

I'm all for openness, but nobody is forcing you to stick around here...

And BTW - who made Antman president of the Kool Kids Klub? Did I miss a vote?

DISCLAIMER: I'm having fun with Antman, not making fun of him.

Ya know there are lots of opinions in here. I was brought up to respect others opinions also. I was also taught to learn to laugh at myself for the dumb stuff I have said and done over the years. None of the above posts were in bad taste IMO, just in fun. Maybe it's hard for some to lighten up. Life shouldn't be taken to seriously, it's to short for that.
FWIW, I removed all the badging from my former Tacoma p/u. I preferred it, but everyone has their own plan. I'm glad to see no 4x4 badge on my 4runner. Looks tacky, but that's just my opinion. So Rock On!
