Why no 4X4 badging?

I think people that have 2wd 4Runners should have the badge since I think even to the average layman that a 4Runner is assumed to be 4wd. Would you assume a TE is a 2wd truck? A 4Runner is one of the last true frame/body SUVs that embodies what I thought an SUV was suppossed to be. I don't think Toyota needs a badge to announce the 4Runner is 4wd but they could offer it through TRD and it sounds like they'd make a killing.

I've just gotten used to spotting the front CV axle through that little sliver of space between the wheel and suspension arms.

Based on what a lot of you guys have mentioned, my guess is it's just for the sake of less confusion? Let's look at it this way: SR5s have either 4x2 or 4x4, TEs only have 4x4, and LEs have either 4x2 or fulltime 4WD (I am not sure if there is a real distinction as I don't really understand if being fulltime 4WD makes it no longer qualify as "4x4").
Sooooo, right off the bat TEs would not likely get a badge because it would be pointless since they are all 4x4 and because Toyota seems to have taken the minimalistic approach with the badging on the TE to begin with. Which leaves the SR5s and the LEs. Now if we give an SR5 a 4x4 badge, what do we do about the LEs 4x4 badge to distinguish that it is fulltime? And, do the 4x2 guys get a badge too? Have we all put way to much thought into this? YES.

Here's mine.
I like the engine, but displaying a V8 badge feels goofy to me.
The 4x4 badge is stuck on so it stays, but I wouldn't have lost sleep if it wasn't there when I bought it.

He probably had trouble getting these to stick on the emblems with all that heat in the engine bay :laugh:
