Wider Tires for 2011 LE

here are the specs for tire you chose. the MIN rim width is 7.5 inches for this tire. So you are squeezing a larger tire onto a smaller rim, which is unsafe. not going to get into a spat here, but too many people here have done what you have done and it could potentially lead to a serious accident.

I know i just looked at Bridgestone web site and saw the same thing. I am amazed that people who are supposedly in the "know" such as the dealer and a reputable tire company would install an unapproved tire/wheel combination. Discount Tire looked up my car & on their system and told me yes they would fit. I didn't think I had to double check the manufacturer's web site to verify. Needless to say my local Discount Tire will be getting a visit from me (with a print out of the Bridgestone specs) and they will be replacing my tires free of charge to an approved size hopefully that is wider than the stock ones. Worst case I'll make them re-install my original tires and give me a full refund.

BTW no need to apologize for a "spat", discussions like this are exactly what this forum is all about.

Despite what the tire police are saying, I've been running 275/55-20 Revo's on mine for about year. I've put about 16k miles on them with absolutely no issues whatsoever.

I am dealing with a tracking issue on grooved roads with my limited. Is the tracking just fine with the revo2? I have alway loved them, but never heard feedback on them for the 2010/2011 limited 20" wheels. Would you buy them again?

No problems on my 4runner( wife's ride now). Everything form the trails at Uwharrie to obx beaches ( yeah i off road with the 20's :wow2:) and many miles of highway driving.
No complaints here about our 4runner. Hope I love my new ride equally as much.:reddance:
 
Basically all they are saying is "if you have a problem (blowout, etc) and cause some big serious issue (death - you, family member, stranger) you will have no LEGAL foot to stand on. You are on your own with grief, expenses, legal. Who cares if someone told you they were ok. Firestone and Ford Explorer showed that it goes back to the TIRE MANUFACTURER. So in reality, its probably no big deal, but if you are going to be that one in a million guy...you don't know what problems are until that happens.

I had the same issue, but it seemed to significantly improve with the wider tires. I'm very pleased.

1+. thats what people here dont get...shame on you whoever is letting their wife drive on those tires...

Exactly... odds are nothing would ever happen because of the tires but if it did I'd be screwed for having an "unapproved" tire. Not worth it, especially with other tire options.

I take it your unhappy with that old ladies car that you bought. It's a shame that it will never see the trails. Besides shouldn't you be on the lexus forum pretending to be of importance.

i dont feel the need to put bigger tires on my suv to make up for incompetence and then let my wife drive around in it while i pretend to own a lc...
 
Update

Talked to manager at my local Discount Tire and told him about the tire/rim combination not being compatible. I told him his employee looked up my car/the tire and told me it was compatible but per the mfg tire specs the 275 Bridgestone is not compatible with a 7" rim.

He had the gall to argue with me about it - it's only 1/2" and those mfg specs are "guidelines." I said well why does it say "approved rim size?" He said "I'd gladly put those tires on my car I know they're OK." I told him, "so you know more than the engineers at Bridgestone who spend millions of dollars engineering and testing those tires for safety?" He finally backed down and said he will replace my tires with the Conti's for free. But.... they are out of stock! Of course!
