Would u wash your T4R with this

My dealership uses a guy with a power hose who seems to do a pretty good job in fact - I don't mind them doing that but the day they install something with anything that whirls at high speed and hits my paintwork is the day they dont wash it anymore... Yes a nice soft chamois is fine when you are gently wiping off water with it - spin a chammy at high speed, dont rise the grime off it and its the equivalent of beating the truck's paint with a stick.

I don't use anything but a hose and bucket of soap. If you go to a car wash beware that they are probably using recycled water, so if it's winter time and there is a lot of salt on the road guess what? All that salt and crap is getting sprayed on your car. You might as well not even wash it that way. A better solution is to just rinse it off. If it is too cold to give a thorough wash. Then when it gets warmer, wash thoroughly.

I always thought that carwashes that use recycled water had filters that remove contaminents (even road salt) before reusing it???

When I first heard about recycled water years ago, I thought one way to make sure it is filtered (perticularly the salt) is to taste it.
I didn't try, in stead, I stopped going to carwash, any carwash.

First, the recycled water is definately filtered. They don't spray your car with the filth from the car before you. Additionally, the filtered recycled water is usually softer than non-recycled water, eliminating hard water spots.

Recycled water isn't necessarily a bad thing. Better than non-touchless car washes, second to handwashing IMO. Some of us don't live in a climate that allows handwashing year-round though, so we have no choice but to go to the carwash.

I don't think removing salt from water is too difficult....

A system of filters should be all it takes.

I didn't know this before. That's why I decided not to be a sicentist. Thanks to both for this.

I use soap, water, and cotton cloth to wash my vehicles, for the past several years. Sorry that I didn't bring business to carwash stop or church kids.

I don't know if it's so much about being special as it is about keeping a new paint job as flawless as possible.

Commercial car washes tend to make very small, light scratches on paint (similar to swirl marks or spideweb scratches) and they are noticeable on darker colors. That's the reason that I avoid them. Plus, handwashing is sort of a ritual for me... I don't mind doing it at all on a warm, sunny afternoon.

Unfortunately, there aren't very many of those "warm, sunny afternoons" up in my area. So, it's either death by salt, or go to the 'abusive' car wash. I chose the latter.

There is a car wash very near to us that opened recently which claims to be designed for larger vehicles like SUV's and vans. I have not used in yet. They claim to be able to accomodate a Hummer.

I don't see a problem with it as what would spraying it do? It wouldn't crack it, wouldn't lift it up, nor would it snap. It'll be good.

The ones with the brushes will rip them off the car. When I asked the service guy not to wash my car he told me that they wouldn't wash it because of the hood protector. But, like iFORCE said, I doubt the touchless washes will rip it off.
