XM Radio

When my 3 month trial is up I am going to offer XM $50.00 for a year take it or leave it. I have a bunch of music on my iPod. I got Sirius in my car last November for $70.00 for the year. We'll see how it goes.

I really don't think they care if we stay or leave.

XM called me early this morning and when I turned them down they offered $24 for 6 months.I guess they try to get you hooked .I'm changing out my Nav soon so wouldn't do me much good.

Seems like good customer service has gone out the window or is it just me. Calling around today to try to buy new suspension . Toytec did'nt have time for tech questions, had the sales lady do it, parts were backordered/out of stock(ICON rear shocks for stage 1 kit) that wasn't updated on the website and they had no clue when they would get them in. She said they don't tell them that! She TELLS me to google "Icon Shocks" and call and ask them.

Demello Offroad on ordering Icon Coilovers -answering machine/left detailed message with call back number........they never even called back .......again.

I've been noticing that everywhere lately as well. You would think if the economy was as bad as people say it is businesses would be bending over backwards to make a deal.

I had toyota dealers not return calls when I was shopping for my 4r... Now thats unheard of.

Businesses typically fire the sales force FIRST during a downturn because they aren't needed to produce goods. Now that people seem to think we're out of the woods, the sales staff isn't there to meet the demand.

Bad planning.

No Kidding!!!!! The 3rd Dealer I tried finally beleived me that I wanted to buy a new 4Runner. My local dealer thought I was kidding or something. They couldnt be less interested in me. I couldnt figure out what was going on.

Just renewed my subscription and got 15 months XM + NAV Traffic for $137.00 or $9.13 per month. Renewal notice I got in the mail offered XM only for $142.45/yr. I pointed them to my call history and they gave me the deal.....

But wait... my paranoia with XM is such that I called them back to confirm my order. After holding for 20 or so minutes, I am connected with someone that says they have no record of my previous call and therefore could not provide the offer previously given me. So basically I'm stuck with $142.45 XM Everything win NO, repeat NO, Nav Traffic.

Yes, I had the option to tell them to stick it but as previously mentioned, there are no other alternatives so I'm forced to subscribe. Seriously, someone needs to find a way to come up with a class action suit on XM and Sirius.

Customer Service at its worst!

So fired off a complaint to their Listen care Dept and here's the generic response:

Dumb question maybe, but how do you know if the traffic feature is turned on? I assume I have it under the trial, but I've never been alerted to traffic, though I'm in traffic all the time. I checked XM's website and my market is covered.

Set a destination so the guidance kicks in. It will tell you that "in x miles, slow traffic, x miles long" or some such. Also, you should see green, yellow, or red lines next to your route @ 700ft.

I can see the color coding at lower resolutions than 700'. However, the coverage is hit or miss. Sometimes no traffic info for days at a time, then it just shows up again. Sometimes a short stretch of a road has it, then nothing for miles and miles. This is a great idea with very poor execution. I would never pay for this "service".

Love the music and programming though.

So I checked my XM online account and it appears all the b*tching paid off. Without notifying me, XM gave me 1 year of XM Everything for $77 plus NAV Traffic for $47.88. Could have done without the NAV Traffic but it's a neat little feature. I could call to delete it, but I'm scared my account will get screwed up again. Faith redeemed --ever so slightly....

can anyone post the name/extension number of an XM rep who was nice and relatively helpful?

i just had the nav installed and need to transfer service from stock stereo to the new pioneer nav...

thanks!

damnit i JUST paid $24.18 for 3 months of XM!! i wonder if i could cancel and re-subscribe for cheaper

wish i saw this thread before :(

are there different package levels for XM? For example: Music only, Talk only, News only, and All-Inclusive?

Some of you are claiming to be getting a 12-month subscription for around $50. What all is included for this price? Is it ALL the XM channels?

Thanks in advance for any future responses as I am going to call them in the next day or two and try to get a good deal like some of you have.

I have XM Everything subscription for $77/year. Others quoting the $20/5 months is a one shot only deal.

I just paid for the lifetime XM & Sirius, $560. Was a bit hard to swallow at first, I have a Stilleto with transferable lifetime that I paid $390 for a few years back. I plan on keeping this sucker for a while, at least 10 years, so it was a no brainer. I also don't want to talk to them ever again too.

I looked into getting my Stilleto into the 4Runner and the parts were $290, intallation was going to run $200 and I was modding the new truck with a group of questionable "audio experts" tearing the thing apart. I think, if you plan on keeping the truck a long time, the lifetime is a good deal.

Did you get a lifetime subscription a your trial period was ending? My trial period ends in a couple of weeks. I was considering a lifetime subscription, but noticed that there was no option for the lifetime on their web site; just annual renewal. Does anyone know if XM will accommodate a lifetime subscription if you call versus going through their web site?

Thought I'd bump this thread again so new 4Runner owners would be aware of the XM Everything special.

My trial ends late this month. I received an offer to renew in the mail and called the number.

I told the rep I'd heard they have a $77/year special. She said yes and signed me up on the spot. It's $77/year plus $11 royalty fee. I asked them to invoice me (add'l $2) so they would not have a credit card # on file to auto renew.

She said it would automatically renew at regular rate unless I called to cancel beforehand. I put an annual reminder on my calendar so I won't forget to call and negotiate for the discount again.

Good luck!
