The reason most other countries pay more for gas is taxes
Its all in the taxes.
And its all because of PUBLIC health care
If we in the US go to a full public system like Australia, NZ, UK, Fr, Gr then we will be paying a ton of money someplace in taxes to pay for it
For example my wife got very ill with Flu in France a few years ago, when we got back to the UK we went to a local doctor, I seriously took about $500 CASH expecting to have to pay for everything. And, all we did was fill in a form saying we were foreigners and giving all our details and it was all FREE
All free, the doctor and the several prescriptions she got
so someone has to pay for it, that someone is their tax payers
I lived in Australia for 35 years and I have worked all over the world with my jobs and I can say, what we got is probably not the best (healthcare) or (gas prices) but we got it pretty darn good. (if you have health insurance) and our gas prices are better than almost everyone else, except the big oil producing countries, like the OPEC nations
