What part of what where I said I own both didn't you understand? I have no reason to be defensive about any of it. If I want to take the ZR2 offroad, I'll pull the fuse.

Chances are that will never happen. With the airbag bullshit going on, we're just keeping the ZR2 around as my wife's daily driver for another year and will trade it off on something else. It won't see any off-roading if I were to guess.

Valid statement regarding the TRD Pro, but not really the 4Runner. 4runner is capable off-road but it's not marketed/optioned/priced as optimized for off roading like the Pro or the ZR2.

Because if you ever take it on a trail it will be more capable, and if you don't you didn't sacrifice too much? Because the Highlander reminds you of a minivan? Perhaps you believe that 'necessary' is the only valid motivation for buying a 4Runner. There are tons of people on here who own them but for whom they're not necessary, including me.

My wife likes hers because it's a truck, it sits her up high, it CAN do things like get her out of a snowy corn field after being run off the road by a careless driver, and for whatever other reasons she chooses to like it. So 'choice' is perhaps a better reason to own and drive a 4Runner than 'necessity'.
