12vdc anytime trouble

I created an add a circuit jumper between the 4th fuse and the P/Outlet fuse as told in jickos build thread page 3. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/187467-jicko-build-thread-3.html

however, my 12vdc didnt come on. my radio did... but not my 12vdc.

im in the right fuse positions... but ill take some pictures when i get home. i mean.. im an electrician on airplanes so i hope im not screwing up fuse location.

Looking at his thread, he shows the 'Door RR' 25A fuse as being always hot. Did you determine that is correct?

Not that it has bearing on your question, necessarily, but I am wondering.

its not the Door RR. thats the third fuse down. the fourth is the open and always hot spot (and the one i used) looking at his pictures and diagrams, he even circles the open block below door rr. easy to confuse...

just kinda curious how jumping the P/Outlet would cause the P/Outlet not to work and the radio to come on. strange.

As a possible option, have you considered a dedicated 12VDC hot outlet? I have this guy installed - wired to acc via a fuse tap, but I'm going to swap it over to battery in that 4th fuse slot so it's always hot. I'm always reluctant to add to or try to bypass factory wiring since so many things can be controlled by one seemingly unrelated power connection.

i will be for the 12v in the cargo area for my fridge, but up front i want as little disturbance to the stock parts as possible. would be super nice if i could just pull and short a relay but it doesnt sound like thats possible. ive been working a lot and havent really had time to pour over the truck schematics. i will eventually though. just a matter of time before i sort something out

Maybe just access the rear of the stock outlet, disconnect the 12vdc acc wire, and replace it with a power wire to the aforementioned batt powered open fuse slot? You wouldn't even have to run a ground. No issues with factory wiring.
