Very nice 1st Gen 4runner. Currently I own a 2nd Gen and I was wondering if the Smittybilt Tubular bumper would fit on mine. If it does, would you be willing to part with yours?

Hey Jason, sorry to say but I sold the bumper a few months back to another guy with a 1st gen 4runner. I've seen a couple for sale here and there on bc4x4; may want to look there.

we are looking for some interior panels to "mould" . if your stock plastic panels are in perfect to great shape .. we would be interested in "making a deal" with you .. to use your panels for the "moulding process"

Hey everybody!

Haven't really done much to the 4Runner lately. Just cleaned the heck out of it on Friday, then took it for a nice drive up to Squamish, BC for a day of hiking. Before I left this morning I quickly put on my new steering wheel.

I've been searching a looong time to find this specific steering wheel. First one I got was missing the horn cover. While looking for a horn cover I came across another one that was complete with the cover; and in better condition. Win win.

This wheel is a direct bolt on! It's period correct. It's also a factory OEM Toyota steering wheel. Anybody know what vehicle its from? hehe. Forgot to take a picture of the hub and how nice it fits. Looks and fits like stock!

Hey there BoatRacer. This steering wheel is only found in CDM and JDM AE86s (GT-S). The ones in the Mr2 are a bit different. I use to have an '85 and '87 Corolla GT-S and both of those had this wheel stock. It took me a very long time to find one. I ended up finding two (go figure) at basically the same time. One didn't have the horn button cover but grabbed it anyway. I wouldn't use anything else. I might end up selling them though...


With that being said I have some bad news...

My '85 4Runner is gone I sold it a month ago to pursue and purchase my all time dream truck (yes, I love these truck even more than 1st gen 4Runners). That truck would be a 40 series Land Cruiser.

I did however snap a few more pictures of my 4Runner before I parted with it...

After almost a year of looking for a 40 series. I found one that interested me 7 months ago. It however, at the time, was undergoing some body work. I followed the progress on it and the previous owner kept me up to date (he planned on selling it after he was done to fund his other FJ40 project). Fast forward to mid April and the owner said it was done. I went over and took a look at it, placed a deposit on it and went back home to then list the 4Runner for sale. I didn't want to sell the 4Runner but with only one parking spot available (additional spots are $100+/month), unfortunately it had to go. Within a couple hours I already had a bunch of people calling/emailing me about it and a couple days later it...it was gone :Cry:


It was now time to go pick up my new truck. I was originally looking for a FJ40 with the straight 6, 2F gas engine. After a bit more research, I knew a diesel version would be a bit better for what I plan on using it for. In the end I found a diesel version - a 1982 BJ42 with the 3.4L 3B diesel engine + 4Spd.

Currently the top end is being rebuilt. New MLG headgasket, stainless steel precup chambers, valve seals etc. The transfer case is also being rebuilt along with the front axle. I do have a set of stock steelies (like the one on the spare tire carrier), that I'll be restoring. A lot of work is going into it and can't wait to hit the mountains with it once it's done!

I know that someday I'll buy another '85 4Runner - hopefully when I have a house and garage. For now I'll just stick with one truck.

True, but that probably common up there and it's fixable. Most '85's around here are beat to hell! Inside and out.
