Nice 40! did you get that 40 from a east Indian guy in north van? If so he is the one that helped me restore my BJ60!
Here in Vancouver, I am the original owner of fully restored silver 85' bj60 with the 3.4L 3B diesel but mine's a 5 speed. Love those 3B engines!

Thanks Riff! Yep, it definitely did. The new owner bought some replacement, fiberglass quarter panels and is repairing all the rust. He is going to make it mint. He has a black '85 pickup that is absolutely beautiful; not a spec of rust. Looks like the back to the future truck haha.

I cannot believe you managed to find either of these so clean in the Lower Mainland! Unless you paid the big bucks of course... :faint:

Got quite lucky indeed. I got the 4Runner for a stupidly good deal in my opinion. The 42 I found on Vancouver Island; got a pretty good deal on it too. Happy with both trucks.

I got it from a guy on Vancouver Island. He spent over 4 years on the restoration. At first I was looking for a 60 series; preferably a BJ60 for the longest time. Then I changed my mind and looked at 40s as well after driving one a little while back. I do miss the cargo space of the 4Runner; and would have loved the space a 60 would have provided.

I would love to see your 60 one of these days if you ever want to meet up or go for a cruise. I'll trade you for that 5 speed hehe

LOL only thing is I don't take my 60 offroad Anymore, It used to be my off road truck before the resto. but now my 4runner is the offroad machine!

Wow both trucks are nice. I found a freshly restored ( not frame off ) FJ40 here and under 20K but it was gas and I think it was getting 8-10 MPG so for a 200 mile a day commute I just couldn't do it. I do love them though. My kids would love sitting across from each other like they where in a police wagon too.

Hah, I don't intend to beat my truck up off road either. Just the usual forest service roads here and there to take me to some more remote hiking/backpacking areas.

yeeeeeah, there is a whole story that goes along with that picture/trip haha. Long story short: There was an accident on a highway and it caused a 3 hour detour for me on my very first roadtrip in my 42.
