That's beyond my knowledge. Is there a link to a website where i can read all about it? I googled a bit but 'computer says no...'
Ordered some silicon parts to replace the lower water hose.
The plan is to cut away the bad part from the hose (upper corner) and replace that with a silicon-based corner. The problem was that the diameter is not the same on the two sides. Is this the same with the 3vze?
When this is done i can finally hit the road again and start focusing (or throwing money) on other stuff.
While waiting for delivery i did some more cleaning:

Oh, i'm also going to need to study again. I registered myself for evening lessons for car-mechanics. It's a 3 year study plan.

Hello Arild! Quite nice build you have, wish I have place to work on my car too.
One thing, did you fix your stalling engine issue? I had similar problem when I got mine 4R. Drive fine at first then does not rev up, power went down, stalled, almost like yours. Mine is fixed (hopefully) now so I maybe can point you in some direction

The problem is fixed, sort of... It just went away after i replaced the fuel filter. But i'm not 100% sure that the filter was the problem. So i'm not satisfied because i don't now what caused it in the first place.
A few new parts arrived yesterday and got them installed already. Made another 30min test-ride yesterday but still not at highway-speeds. (have to replace pinion-seals and diff-oil first because i'm afraid to mess up the gears)
Anyway, how did you solve your problem? And are you running stock tires/rims?

Glad to hear its fixed, but be on guard. I had filter replaced as well and it was only temporary fix. 500km after it was back. Real problem was clogged filter inside fuel tank. Its been over half year since cleaned and no problem so far.
I am running stock rims with non factory tire size, same as yours -> 235/75 R15. Original 215/75 R15 looked weird. Bought new tires two weeks back.
Looking on pics of your throttle body, very nice. Is there any difference noticable? Guess you also cleaned up rest of intake. Maybe I will clean mine. I seem to have lots of oil from PCV.

The stock rims were replaced by the previous owner but i don't like them. I recently bought some other 16" wheels and now that i have them i'm not sure they will fit, even with a lift. We'll see...
She does run smoother after 2 months of simple cleaning. I clean one part at a time, mostly in the weekends. I want to rebuilt the entire engine but i can't do it myself and i don't want to spend the €€€€ yet. I want to drive it first and have fun with it.

Something i want to ask: what is your cruising speed on the highway?

Those wheels looks good. With old 235 there is lots of clearance but who knows how these fits. Probably just test it out. Best option since you have them already
Well if cleaning throttle body and stuff around helps then I should get to cleaning after well. But not sooner then I install catch can, it really need one. Also I am looking to install an intercooler at some point so oil catch can is must.

Since I am gentle on old girl I am going about 110-120 km/h tops. But she can pull to about 135. No cargo and stuff ofc. Going faster just torture your engine.
If you have time definitely check that fuel tank. 5 minute of cleaning can safe lots of money. As usual, so stupid issue have so easy fix. You can drop tank or cut hole in floor under seats

yeah, we'll see how she goes. If she need stuggle too hard i can always buy new tires and sell these.
235/75/15 is what i have now and i don't like them. They look so... well, tiny. I think i can go bit bigger but 235/75/16 might be too much. Anyway, i'll give it a shot.

pretty sure the only difference between the two tire sizes you mentioned is the size of the rim but I did find this info because I was curious.
It made me wonder. Seems like the size difference is so close that $$wise it would not be worth the expense of new tires/rims

Ow sorry dropzone. My mistake, the set i bought recently is 235/85/16. And that's noticeably bigger than stock size.
Some say i'll be fine. Some say the oppositie. Other say the 2lt is underpowered while alot of LJ70's here run on even bigger shoes with the same gear ratio and trans.
I'm gonna try it anyway. I won't be doïng any heavy offroad trips any time soon.

Yeah these trucks aint about high speeds. Yday on highway I tried max speed. little over 130km/h. Little cargo in back and pedal to floor But sound of the engine at those rpm isnt very nice.
What do plan with such big tires? As I said, best would be to just mount those and test them out. Even there is lots of space in wheel arch I guess there will be lots of wheel travel as well.

Question on yours 2LT, do you have some unusual smoke? Mine on some days make kind of blueish smoke when rev up hard, but other days nothing, she is fine, only typical black diesel smoke. I am telling myself it just oil coming from crankcase ventilation but not 100% sure.

Thank you for the ebay link but i made a DIY catch can from stuff i had laying around from my early 'computer-building' days. I hope the acrylic reservoir can withstand the hot oil...
It even has a mounting bracket i only need to stuff in some metal sponge. It's worth a try. We're off to a 900km trip to Italy next week and i'm VERY excited to test our new old 4runner!

Only when the engine is still cold. The performance/smoothness difference between a hot and cold 2LT engine is huge btw. The problem is, i only drove 50km in total so i can't really answer your question.

Ah, it looks good. From photo it looks kind of small. I know that acrylic tubes can be heated with heat gun and bended, but no idea how hot are gases inside crankcase. In worst case it would crack and leak. I am thinking now of adding some float contact to can to light up indicator when collected oil/stuff get to full.
That with smoke you had was most likely not enought fuel. White smoke with diesel engine can also mean (besides water in combustion) incomplete diesel combustion. It happend to me last winter when my fuel "froze" and engine barely run with loads of white smoke behind.
