2" Lift on 3rd Gen?

I've done suspension work on several vehicles through the years and it never gets any easier LOL. It took me about 4 hours to finish the front. 3.5 if I hadn't had that problem with the coil hitting the spindle. I was using impact tools/air tools to make quick work of the bolts. I was shooting a "how to" video of the install as well which added about an hour to the job. With some help and someone who's worked on suspension before you should be able to knock it out in 3 hours easy if you have the right tools. Getting the TRD Coil and 5100 shock back in the A-arms was by far the hardest part. It's 2" or so taller so you really have to push the A-arm down to get the lower shock bolt through.

I just went out and sprayed some more WD40 on the upper rear shock nuts. The truck is coming up on 12 years old so I'm sure they're seized on there, but I'm gonna try to back them off before cutting the dust shield off the shock and grabbing the shaft with some vice grips.

No. The stock shock is too short for the Tundra spring. You can do 5100s with the stock spring and put it on the 3rd or 4th setting, but I'd just wait and do it right and do it once.

Just finished the install. The rear is super easy compared to the front. Luckily I had zero problems with my rear shock top bolts. Put a 14mm deep well socket on there with a ratchet wedged against the body and used a rubber strap wrench to turn the shock body to loosen them. Worked like a charm. Soaking those upper bolts for 2 days in WD40 probably did the trick. Pics and video to come mid week.

Just took the truck for a test drive. It rides GREAT. Soaks up the bumps without being jarring at all. Rides better than stock to be honest.

Now for an alignment. I can tell it needs one. That'll get done tomorrow at 5pm.

See, I told you there was no need to worry. I've got about 750 miles on mine since I lifted it and I love the ride.

Soon. The weather here has been crummy for pics. I finished up the Tundra Brake upgrade last night so it's all ready to rock and roll. It looks great.

Well this looks like the answer to my own desire to lift my ride 2". Be a bit before I get to it but saving the thread for use later.

Here's a few pics. I'll start a new thread since this one kind of meandered a bit and link to it from here with the install and parts info/pics/video.

Before new tires and wheels. Stock suspension IS TRD wheels and stock tires.


After 265/75R15 Bridgestone Dueller A/T Revo 2 tires and Level 8 MK6 wheels. To me, the larger tires upset the lines of the vehicle at stock height.



After 2" lift. For me this is perfect. Not too high and gives nice body lines and proportions for the tire/wheel combo.

Mines should look similar I hope.. Planning to leave it at the second notch of the strut with stock springs.

Yep, front is on the lowest setting. I "think" for 2" with the stock spring you want the 3rd perch, but double check me on that.

Well. I got my lift installed. I'm very disappointed. The rear went in smooth. However the front went easy too high. I put the shock on the second setting from the bottom with stock shock. The front gained about 3.25''. Over an inch hu higher than the rear and it rides like crap.

Is there any wat I can set The coil perch to the lowest setting without removing the strut assembly and compressing the springs???

With hand tools and a rental spring compressor its a pain in there ass.
I'm also getting driveshaft vibes due to this.
