Interesting story. At least you know the fuel pump is good. Question - did you have to drop the gas tank to replace the fuel pump?

I believe the keys are chipped, that's what caused the problem I believe. However the key wasn't put in water or anything, just went bad somehow.
Yeah I'm not regretting replacing the fuel pump, it's a new Denso, only cost about $190 to replace since I did the work and I know it won't fail on me.
All I did to replace the fuel pump and this is the easiest way I think is possible...
Unbolt the skid plate and then support the tank with a jack and a piece of wood (so you don't pierce the tank) and then unbolt the tank.
Make sure you have removed the access hatch from under the rear seat and disconnect the two plugs on the top of the tank.
As you start to lower the tank the gas lines are connected to the tank running forward. Just pop those out of the plastic pieces holding them onto the tank.
DON'T REMOVE ANYTHING ELSE - don't disconnect anything else! You don't need to.
You can remove the pump by leaving the rear side of the tank hanging by all the other stuff and remove the pump by moving it around from the access hatch (it won't come out through the access hatch, pass it to a friend under the trunk)
It's really easy to do and only took me and a buddy about 1.5 hrs or so
