2003 OEM JBL navigation Ipod connection which is best

I have read several ways on this forum to do this And I am kind of confused on the differences and which one is more plug and play or better for ipod/iphone connectivity.

I think I am leaning towards this:

The USA spec is great! It's really convenient, in that you can keep the steering wheel controls and can plug in another accessory (I had Sirius), and it sounds great. The iPod cords do eventually go after a couple years though, and they're about $35 to replace. After about 5 years and 2 cords, mine stopped charging my iPhone, but I continued using it. Despite these issues, I'd still recommend it.
I eventually replaced my entire head unit and pulled the USA-Spec unit out. Even though it doesn't charge (hell, maybe that wasn't the unit's fault?) you can have mine for the price of shipping. PM me...
